I would save them put them in your house and wait to get more so u can really make a good pet! I do this with really good dna and im saving some for a patch to come so if they nerf creatures again i will have some good samples!

To help answer two questions of possibility.
1) Boss mobs can spawn from both wild and mission lairs.
2) It is possible for the boss to exsist solo without a lair as the boss normally spawns as/when the lair is destroyed in my experiences.
