The next schematic (which incidentally would be the first schematic)that a chef gets from me will go for 10 million credits...Ok, well kinda. I finally decided that if I can't "join em" I'll "beat em". So from now on I'm doing schematic swaps when they demand a schematic of me. I'm harvesting gemstone, fruits, berries, water, fungi, and wheat right now. Recognize those ingredients? They are what are needed to make brandy and accargam, lol. 40 crates x 250,000/crate = 10 million credits. Not bad for the minimal effort needed to plunk a few harvesters down and throw things into a factory.

Arthur,

I've been considering doing something very similar. I have noticed some BEs on my server (not going to name names) that are selling their additives **below** what the resources that go into then are worth.

I refuse to do the same on the principle that I'm not going to take a "loss of profit" AND "loss of resource value" so that a Chef/Tailor can 2x-3x double his/her profits/resource value.

So I've been throwing around the idea of basically doing what you are... I already give my guild chef free schematics (I get free BE food)... She has offered to start giving me free chef schematics for chef food.

Luckily for me this friend has 4 accounts and I believe she will be making a tailor account... I plan on doing the same thing with my tissue... That is instead of selling them retail I'm going to just get schematics made for me so that I'm not having to take huge profit losses because of a few **edit** BEsfeel the need to drive our profits into the dirt while others reap the fruits of our hardwork/SP investment.

So in my case, instead of playing the "game" on my competitor's level I'm just going to do a leap frog over em'. Hell, I might even start buying their cheap a$$ stuff and make a profit off of the "tears and sweat" of their labors... Hell, I could even start selling them my meat for market value ROFL

Only down side of course is I choose to play BE for a reason.. I enjoy it. If I wanted to play Chef or Tailor I would have picked that up... Having to take on the additional responsibilities of Chef/Tailor to keep my profits intact just erks me a little

Voke,

Yep, I think we both know who you are talking about. It's really sad, it really is. I think right now, at least on Bria, BE's have been reduced to bio nutrient schematicwhores who work for tips and I'd rather have no business at all then that business. I even took down my BE tag because all I would get all night was "u make BE schems dood?".

I've had a really great long-standing relationship with one chef (from your neck of the woods actually, on Talus) where I give him additives in exchange for food and drink (like 4-1 or 5-1 but we're really informal about it). But that obviously does nothing for my business. But at least I have all the food and drink I and my friends can consume, lol.

What was the final straw for me though was that a guy that I've known for quite a while recently took up chef and had been talking about doing a "partnership" with me for some time. Sounded good, I told him I'd be happy to be his supplier and that I was very flexible about how I'd be willing to do this. Revenue sharing, bulk pricing, or whatever. But then he told me that basically, well, he wanted me to make him schematics and he'd tip me for them. With a monumental effort to keep my cool, I told him that I'd really prefer to actually make the additives, that I was a crafter to craft and offer products he argued that it was too much hassle totransport crates, that he had all the best ingredients (course he had no clue what good ingredients were, he was very impressed by his "900 OQ meat") and that well, he just couldn't afford to pay for additives (before we'd even discussed price or payment... argh!). At that point I made two decisions. #1 that I really didn't want anything to do with this guy, which is a shame because I've known him for a long time in-game and he really is a pretty nice guy. I told him I'd keep my vendor stocked and he was welcome to buy from there (which of course he hasn't).And #2 that I was tired of fighting this so I may as well play their game, just play it a whole lot better. So I'll soon be in the food selling biz, lol. Bria chefs can now welcome their newest competitor. If I cant sell additives I may as well sell brandy.

i've discussed a few times about actually making schematics for people.... usually on a 500cr/u basis or something..... a full run would net me say, 2mil, i would NOT sell it for 20k..... i don't care if you harvested all the resources yourself......
i've also tossed around the idea of putting the limit at like 100 or something and tell em to fek off when they get pissed and buy them from someone instead of have someone hold your hand and make schematics for you

another thing i hate is "hagglers" who say "well i'll give you 45k per crate, not 55k okay? i never pay more then 45k" i tell them i offer discounts on bulk order and to look where they spend less then, since i don't haggle
i don't gouge prices, it is actually cheaper to buy from me if you buy a lot at once, which most chefs do........ i actually had one BE offer me 350k for 10 crates of inetlligent nanonutrients and a few schematics i just type /addignore

Kevie,

Well you'd love it on Bria that, lol. What is this guy charging now Voke? 15k/crate for BSN? Something like that. The sad thing though is that I guess even that is too much for some (most) chefs as they don't seem to buy him out and still have an insatiable appetite for free schematics.

If memory serves me right it was17k per crate of 84+ BSN lol

You know what is absolutely hilarious? The person is question is outa meat and is now paying 25cpu-50cpu So considering that each BSN takes 500 meat that means he is spending 12.5k-25k a crate just on the meat...

Add in some good flora (lets say as low as 3cpu) that is another 4.5k... So, even on the cheap side that is 17k per crate for BSN with no mark-up for profit....

No doubt he is mining his own flora in order to make some profit... So we assume you mine at .5cpu with a heavy using fusion power... that means the total profit is 3750c per crate **if** he buys meat no more expensive then 25cpu!!!!

Now, we all know:

  1. Unless it is dath carn meat, good meat for BSN is likely to go over 25cpu on Bria

  2. Good flora to mate with the good meat can easily fetch 5cpu if not 10+cpu on Bria

I dont understand it /shakeshead

And the kicker is, as you said, he still isnt sold out!!! Chefs are still asking for free schematics!!!

Now, again I'm not going to name names, but I've seen chefs turn down my 40k for 86BSN (had to lower it ) yet turn around and spend 35cpu on meat and 10cpu on flora!

Their total cost: 32.5k

Myprice cost: 40.0k

Their total savings: 7.5k per crate

Now they not only have to run the raw additives through their factories but also have to make the 2nd refinement run and then add that to the final product!!!

Now, If Chefs were making little profits per resource value/misc credit expenditures I can see why they would choose to do this... But the final price on the BE brandy jumps by a factor of 2x-3x if not more!

So instead of giving some of that profit to the MBE that made it possible to charge those kind of prices certain chefs would sooner just cut us out and pocket the extra 7.5k so they can make a 157k profit instead of a 150k profit.

I dont understand any of it /shrugs

Personally I do not sell schematics to anyone outside my guild. If you are looking into doing this, I would suggest asking what they are going into and then make a determination of what to charge.

Well on Intrepid anyway, the only Tissues Chefs ask for are in the Nutrient line. Prices are 26cr/point or in 25crates listed below.

MicroNutrient Supplement- ~28k (54-55)
Broad-Spectrum Nutrient- ~45k (85-87)
Intelligent NanoNutrient - ~60k (115-117)

Schematics go for10% standard crate cost.So if you want a 100 count schematic of INN it will cost you 24k.

You know after reading all of that stuff... I am very glad I am not on Bria. LOL... seriously... Radiant is no where near that bad. I could honestly probably charge 20-25% of market value for my suppliment schematics and still have no problem selling a schematic. But honestly once most people know what is needed for a schem they just ask me to make it. I think my prices are fair 25k fro light, 35 medium adn 45k for a crate of heavy. I have done discounts on multiple runs in a single order... and I charge less when I make crappy ones with left over resources... I find that seems to be a supply/demand equilibream.

I feel for you guys... people that hologrind BE on Radiant generally don't screw everyone else.
