I have been both a BE and a CH, and I have to agree that sampling is harder overall than taming, but to the guy that says it would be comparable if CHs had to get one column of their skills just from taming --- you leave out the fact that BEs can sample pretty much any animal, where CHs can only tame babies. In theory you could get your whole sampling column running around newbie area. You don't find any babies at all spawning there.

Thats true, however CHs still get CH exp for fighting with their pet. So, its not like taming babies is the only method of getting exp. So a CH can get 1 low lvl pet and then go farm the same newbie areas and gain exp just like the BE sampling those creatures.

Actually you missed his point. If the game was different and CH Had to tame to finish a tree, no combat, just tame, then taming would take a lot longer, especially if the XP req was the same as with pet combat xp. This is accurate, the availability of baby's is a fraction of adults and thus a BE has more sample opportunities.

HOWEVER, this is not how the mechanic works, CH kill to get XP and BE have to sample.

Have to say that the hardest part of Taming for me was always finding the baby version of what I wanted. With Explore 4 and scent mask clothing taming has always seemed easy. Sure it can take a lot of tries but I almost never get aggro'd. The hardest part of sampling is the fact that you WILL get aggro'd. All it take is a bad role on the sample. As an MBE it seems to happen to me 1 time in 10. Thats not scent mask going down. Thats scent mask staying up and being aggro'd anyway. Cloning center trips are a fairly common occurence as a MBE for me. Especially if I get impatient. Hit burst run to get away. Now I decide to go back in without waiting 10(?) minutes. The few times I do that with taming it works because I'm just worried about scent mask dropping which is pretty rare. With sampling I'm worried about a bad sampling role and thats unfortunetly common. Plus I also have to worry about scent mask dropping. (As I said though thankfully thats rare)

I was a Creature Handler at one point and I got my critters when Maskscent was broken. I am now a BE and I made my way up sampling without using maskscent. Now that I am a master BE, I figured out pretty quickly that I needed to have Explore 4 if I wanted any good DNA.

Last Night as I crept up behind an Arachne Webmaster, the same rush of adrenaline came over me as I used to get walking into a pack of aggros trying to steal the baby away. It was Fun again. Same night different Arachne (a warrior this time) I was 6 meters to its left and stood dead still as I sampled. All the while there were three venom filled Arachnes just walking around. THEN....something broke my mask!....My heart jumped as a I fully expected the Combat music to start. It didnt....I sampled the Warrior to death...each time expecting to fail and had already made up my mind not to run, but to just accept my fate. I got 5 or 6 samples and finally the poor spider could take my needles no more and expired. I calmly backed away from the pack, went back to my speederbike and flew to a safe place. Then sat down made a camp and waited for my nerves to settle (not to mention took a moment to clean out my +15 camo pants)

You see, Im a Bothan. I get a Camo bonus.

Taming is really no harder or easier. Mastering CH is no harder nor easier than BE. I will say that climbing the Sampling Tree sucks nutz, but its only one tree. AND you macro craft your way through the rest of the prof in two days...I know, because I did it! CH, you get points for just sending in your low level CuPa's or Krevol's or in my case Plains Tusk Cats...to kill a big mob while you slaughter it with an LLC or Flamer. However, you have alot more boxes and alot more points to collect to get there. But you can master CH in three days...I know I did it!

What I dont get is why anyone at all would bother to try to compare their own brand of pain to someone elses. Sampling and Taming are SIMILAR but not that same. WEBOTH end up in the Clone center alot trying to get that rare stuff we need or want. Please stop trying to say one is harder than the other, because that is purely subjective.

Well Im off to make more Evil Bunnies! you all play nice in here.

Is this another CH post saying Taming is harder than Sampling? /rolleyes

Seriously bro.You have no idea what you are talking about until you've been both a BE and a CH. Almost every BE is or has been a CH, yet CH's who have been BE's are rare. I've been Master BE and Master CH, and Taming is a walk in the park compared to Sampling.

When I hit master I went out and tamed me a rankor... you know how many times I had to tame it? 34 times... for one pet. You guys saying "you have to do it once, we have to do it 5 times"... i dont agree at all...

Another point I would like to make that I dont know if it is commonly known to BE's

Warning shot rocks.... you can still sample after it attacks... warning shot it, peace out, run the other way. When the pet is over 175-250M distant it will stop fighting you... go back and do it again... that is how I got 34 chances on one pet.

here is a credit buy a clue. taming a baby is nothing like sampling an adult. Tame any mutant rancors lately? You know how many attempts to sample it takes to get one mutant rancor?

You know how many times mask will break before you get even close enough to try?

You know that to get 5 samples from one could take hours and a few deaths?

No? i didn't think so, go back to the CH board where at least you can think your right when you don't know for sure.
