the above list is taken from the armorsmith guides, however there is one thing i dont understand. What is gated resources, how does it work? i havent been able to find eny info on this, other then what is written here above.
could someone explain it a bit futher?

What it does is makes the OQ on named resources all important, because the other stats do not move much... For example if you get a 999oq Colat, it will always be great....
With generic resources you still need to look for OQ/SR, but the gating also works here, for example the best copper is always polysteel, the best iron is always kam....

You have to realize that these numbers prob came from the best spawns for that specific trait. Basically, scan every server for the lowest/highest SR for bey copper and that's prob what that number is.

Yes, except for 4 from your list:
Ferrous Metal, Aluminum, Copper, Siliclastic Ore don't have any caps in JTL resources.
