Stand still. Then type /forage. You'll have a % chance of getting some bait on a successful forage attempt.

You can do this pretty much anywhere tho you can 'forage out' an area and have to move 50-100m away before getting a clear spot again. Some say it's slightly higher near water. You can, in theory, also get bait from lairs but I was out egg collecting the other day and, after 200+ searches got 0 bait.

Once you have some and successfully catch a fish, filleting the fish will produce fish meat and chum bait. The chum of course can be used for baiting your hooks.

Dont know why but I always had better luck getting bait on a shoreline.

Now more important you only need to find one bait. Because once you catch your first fish. When you skin it you will get chum bait from it.

And as the FAQ will tell you. The different baits do not effect how well you catch.

I don't think this is implemented yet. It's going in with the Ranger revamp, since that's taking away the /forage skill, moving all the foragable items into lairs.

Sciguy is right. Its not in game yet.
