i have very many small idea's that they could implement to rangers + scouts that would help them on their way but i am DEFINETLY behind rangers 100% aswell. there profession could be and should be so much more fun.
a large hunting group should have at least 1 ranger + 1 group leader in it, as it is no group requires either of these as they really dont do anything for the group!.
1 of my idea's was to make the ability to harvest from a creature a more of a challenge to get.
as it is like stated above a novice scout can get 1/2 meat/hide/bone a MASTER ranger can get for VERY little of the skillpoint cost.
i would like to see a large change in the harvesting way.
at novice scout there should bea very slightability to harvest anything from a creature, giving the player scraps if you will!
at hunting 1 the player gains the ability to harvest the bone of the creature more efficiently aswell as gaining an overall harvesting bonus.
at hunting 2 the player gains the ability to havest the HIDE of the creature more efficiently aswell as gaining an overall harvesting bonus.
at hunting 4 the player gains the ability to havest theMEAT of the creature more efficiently aswell as gaining an overall harvesting bonus.
this could continue like this throughout the scout tree (kind of like damage mitigation the melee and ranged combat class get)
when you master scout you obtain efficiency II in harvesting
and as master ranger you obtain efficency III in harvesting!
this would mean the ranger + scout classes would be more sought after by docs and other crafting professions instead of the nearest master (insert combat prof here) who can kill creatures way quicker than a ranger or scout.
anyway that was my 2cents. i know that post really belongs in the ranger/scout proffesion board but i was here anyway!

Timing sucks? Why do you say that?

I would support you as well.
And one idea I heard and always thought they should put in is that Rangers should be able to harvest more than one resource from a creature....at novice they can harves two, at master all three.

Ah thats right. I hope that all goes well. I don't suppose you would mind the occasional /bump just to make sure we don't lose this thread entirely would you?

So Calc, if this goes through you'll be able to get me more avian meat?
Obviously, I'm for it, avian and herb meat are almost always the first resources I deplete, and getting more takes way too long.

Sounds like a good idea.
As architects it'd be nice to be able to make husbandry farms that require ranger/scout input. They can provide a trapped creature that can be domesticated to provide a steady income of resources. (Bio-engineers could create high-yield livestock variants).
I've often wondered why we dont have livestock farming in the game

glorydragon wrote:this is EXACTLY what I was about to say. in the right order and evrything bones hide meat. and since you don't NEED bones or hide or meat to level scout it wouldn't be too bad of a nerf. if this ever dose get implemented the worst thing that happens is your going to have your MTKAs and Mriflemen crying about not being able to get the meat they want and thats fine by me. I'm almost willing to say you souldn't get harvesting till ranger but you have to master scout to GET ranger so that would be far to much of a nerf.

No offense, but are you really that greedy? Right now people are paying 150cpu for avian meat on my server, and you want to make it MUCH MUCH MUCH more rare? The proposed fix nerfs nobody, and helps someone. Your fix screws over EVERYONE except for rangers. What sense does that make?
