Anyone who disagrees that the dev's don't want combat pets of any kind in the hands of classes not designed around such things is kidding themselves.

CL 10 is pitiful for a pet within the confines of what is supposed to be CL 10. I'm not talking about the grossly overpowered monstrosity CL 10's BE's were creating... I'm talking real CL 10 pets. 1k HAM tops pets. No resists. Who, in their right mind, would use those to tank anything beyond newbie trash mobs?

Look at what they did to the entire CH profession. My predominant cynical side says that, by making it so the profession only becomes a viable means to gain a tank at Master, and then simulaneously making it more difficult to attain said Master status.... they pretty much want the CH class to either be an unpopular one, or they don't want pets tanking.

They won't be adding droids that can tank for players. Get over that thought now. I don't exactly know what they will do for DE's combat-wise, but I guarantee it won't be giving combat droids to the masses.

My guess is that droids will not be tanks, they'll be damage dealers. Probably high damage compared to a pet, but relatively fragile.

I will not give up my creature pets for combat droids unless the TalN Nerf makes my critter pets useless. If the final version of this accursed nerf ruins critter pets for me, then ill jump at droid pets. Albeit reluctantly. Although I doubt the DE revamp will be any good. They've been talkingDE revamp for months now and I havent heard anything worthwhile.

We need to call out more than 1 droid. Otherwise repair droids are utterly useless. Im sorry, but I bought a repair droid to repair my own droids. What do I care if I can repair other ppls droids? They also need to fix exsisting droids such as the power droid and others. That surgical droid isnt any differentthan an R2 droid with a med module in it. So what if it has the best med module available built into it? Let it auto-heal folks upon command (even if its at the rate of a stim-A).

They got to make it worth while.

Oh and by the way, when and if they do make DE worthwhile, lets try not to migrate to the Droid Engy board and beg for nerfs ok?

To me it's not a question of bugs at all. It's a question of the game's direction. What are going to be the combat pets of the future, and who are going to be the suppliers of these pets? That is the 1 million credit question right there. And SOE has shown very little regard for preserving game balance with these types of changes in the past. Droids used to be THE battle pet of choice. When they nerfed droids as battle pets, they nerfed them hard, and left them crippled for months. When they released mounts the completely invalidated scout terrain navigation. Didn't matter, mounts were cool and everyone wanted one. Then vehicles, completely invalidating mounts, hurting CH and BE. Didn't matter, vehicles were cool and everyone wanted one. Now we will have battle droids.... think they are going to bother to preserve the balance between pets and droids? If they did this, it would be a first.

My prediction: they will allow DEs to make many different types of combat droids - they will be overpowered at first and then they will be nerfed. The ultimate objective of the Devs in all this is to nerf soloing and encourage grouping. Their desire to see us group isgreater thanthe players' desires to solo.

This problem goes back to the basic design and structure of HAM and the combatmechanics in this game, which requires the use of pet tanks. Player HAM in this game, unlike the other MMORPGs I have played, does not increase with growth/development but stays static while HAM of all the content increases, sometimes markedly. Since release they have been struggling with the problems this inbalance causes and resultant undesirable side-effects. Hence the nerfs to original probots and now non-CH pets as tanks. Bottom line is that the Devsdo not want players to use anything to tank for them. For anything approaching intermediate-level content and above, they want the players to group, and I suspect the coming combat changes are going to reflect that desire. (Note that I am not talking about Nightsister Elders or Krayts and other high-end content, which should require a large group. I am talking about even modest intermediate content.)

Do I agree with this philosophy? Not in the least.

If they persist in this course will it cause me and many others to leave? Most likely.

I generally try to keep a positive outlook, but let's not kid ourselves. Look what happened to BE when it received a major reworking. They borked it.

Do you really think you're going to become a DE and everything will be coming up roses after the DE revamp?

I'm still waiting for the ranger changes they promised, like usable combat type camps.... They made their first revamp over 2 months ago...

I think it's likely a lot of people will do this as well. I will seriously consider it myself, but will wait and see what they do to DE first. I enjoy BE, and have for some months, but feel our future in the game is shaky at best, and with the monster crafting situation being so volatile right now I'm feeling kind of unmotivated to make more monsters. The ones I make today could very well be invalidated tomorrow so what's the point?

We'll see. This is all just your speculation. Here's my speculation: droid engineers are getting a lot of work done on their class. This is a fact. They have been promised some new droids with combat capabilities. This is also a fact. Probots right now are probably quite a bit superior to "wild" non-chcreatures mainly because of their medium armor. They have drawbacks like the fact that you can't heal their damage (a big drawback) and have a nasty habit of being in "low power" just at the time you need them the most, but if you put a probot up against a carrion spat or Kadu or similar I'm quite sure the probot would win every time hands down.

New combat droids will be upgrades to existing probots. This is a pretty safe speculation because if they weren't, nobody would bother with them and the devs will have wasted their time, and the devs don't like to see their efforts wasted. How big an upgrade? who knows. Will everyone be able to use them? Well, since there are no "droid handlers", and DE's are an artisan class, I think it's pretty much a slam dunk the everyone will be able to use them.

Like I said before, it would be nice to assume that the devs have class balance in mind when they make these changes. And that they don't want to ruin CH and BE in one fell swoop, but from experience this is often exactly what they do. Would not surprise me one bit to see a bunch of battle droids come out that everyone can use and that fight like CL 20-25 level pets.

i dont think it will be as amazing as everyone thinkgs it will be. THey simply cant have uber droids that beat all the pets up, it w*ould totally devoid the CH/BE proffesion. I dont see it happening.
