I can't argue with your logic on the Harvesting branch, but I do dispute the notion that if we could harvest from samples who would be hurt.

If we could sample from dead samples then what would be the market for meat be? Right now Creature Creation and Bio Food additives are the main demand for meat. If we were totally self suficient, who would the Combat class sell their meat harvest too?

If I manage to get close enough to a Kimo or a Rancor and I can kill it by Sampling it, then I sure should be able to harvest from it. Since more often than not, it's playing kick ball with me when I fail.

"No, this is not the answer. The answer is either to increase (by at least double) the output of all creature resources from /harvest or to just give us back the early beta creature resource harvesters that made it so much less WORK to be a crafter.

The reasons this won't work are several, but the biggest is that in another couple of weeks of dna sampling you will no longer be killing creatures. So on any given server what you suggest MIGHT increase the meat supply by a thousand or so. And people who are already upset that low level BEs can sample away lairs for money will be even more unhappy."

Uhm...I haven't heard anything about us not killing creatures from sampling. Source? Not saying yr lying, just haven't heard this mentioned previously.

This would not kill our dependency on combat classes at all, this is just something that is common sense and would be a small bonus to us. There's a reason I plan on maintaining Ranger Tracking 3 when I have MBE, I know I ned to be able to harvest as well as I can. I'll be able to keep TKA 2112 and Ranger Tracking 3 and still be MBE, but that will be it besides my prerequisites.

I think we would all prefer having harvesters that could produce large quantities of meat for us, but I doubt that is going to be happening at this point in the game. If we had harvesters the Rangers and Scouts would likely throw a fit about being made even MORE useless and such.

/Sign this petition so that there is one less thing in the game that doesn't make sense, not to try and make us self sufficient as far as harvesting goes, b/c this won't do it that's for sure.

Oh yeah, the people who are annoyed we can sample everything from a lair and still get money should get over it. All that needs to happen is for the lair itself to be killed as THAT is what produces the money for a mission. They should complain to the Devs about how the mission payout occurs if they have serious issues, but really it's just another excuse to whine about something.

i'm signing against

this is a very lazy way to get meat if you ask me

i agree not being able to harvest anything after sampling doesn't make much sense but it would take a few guys a good amount of time to blast their way through a piket lair and harvest all the meat/hides they want while it would take a bio-engineer little or no time to get tons of samples, make a bunch of pets to sell and now you guys want to get meat and hide too?

i'm perfectly content the way it is

They already have, lol, and tailors have suggested being able to make their own tissues, and BE's have suggested over and over that they be able to harvest all their own meat without hunting or having to bother with rangers. Everybody is basically out to kill off every other profession but the ones that they happen to be a part of it seems.

But I'll reiterate my stance on this one is that it's a non-issue because of the small quantities of meat we're talking about here. The idea that a BE could somehow sample himself to independence from hunting is not very realistic.

What about when Chefs start a petition to get rid of Bio enhanced ingreadiants because there is a short supply of them? Will you sign that as well?

I'm a Master BE and I literally don't remember the last time that I killed a creature I was sampling. I guess it still happens but it is very rare. As you go up, the chances you kill a creature decreases, which means that the chances that it attacks you increases. That is the messed up part of the system, it gets more dangerous as you get better at it.

And I'm glad that you can get a lot of meat from Rancors. Now go out and get the couple of thousand Domesticated Meat or couple thousand Dathomirian Insect Meat that you'll need for one small factory run. Availability of meat is a big problem, but this is a non-solution.

I can see why they have made it this way to add more value to the pure scouts/rangers in terms of economy but what is very debatable is

1. If you are also a master scout/master ranger but you cant harvest what died by your needle. Seems like an aweful waste of meat, bone and hide to me. That in itself is an oxymoron considering the role and concept of the class

2. If it is said that us being ableto harvest meat is unbalancing to the economy, shouldnt we not be allowed to craft BECs etc for our stims? shouldnt we then have to get it from medics? wait a minute, we're medics too! this in itself already shows that while we have the skill, we should be able to make or harvest what we have commited our skill pts to.

Of course we also buy these components from master doctors andthats because they are masters and can make better ones then us. Not every bio engineer is a master ranger or master scout so the set back for them is less harvest but all in all we should STILL be able to harvest the animals that DIE by our needle.

3. People saying that we kill them off too easily. I dont remember sampling Mutant rancors being very easy. never in fact. How long does it take for any master combat class to kill a mutant rancor? really now, lets be honest. less than a min? 10 secs? They say they see a Master bio engineer sampling pikets to death and that it is Uber or whatever. how long does it take to do that? and, how long does it take for a master rifleman to level an entire nest? not long as long as the BE would i can tell you that. Not by a long shot (no pun intended)

Whatever it is, they did die by our needle. After x number of attempts, they keeled over and DIED. the kill is RIGHTFULLY OURS. If sticking them with a needle isnt technically killing them, then by all logic, the pets shouldnt die when we sample them.

Make it so that no matter how many times we sample a creature, they wont die or,have the message pop up saying we can no longer sample this creature. this way, we get the OPTION to kill off the creature after sampling it AND makes more sense.

4. As many people have stated here already, how can sticking a needle into a creature suck up all the meat, bone and hide so that there is nothing to harvest? I can understand that the lines of logic has to be pushed sometimes in games like these but you got to admit, its a bit hard tring to get your mind around that concept.

I'm not going to debate whatshould be added in the in game in order to increase the availability of creature resources, yet simply state that there need to be something done in general to acheive this. DEVS can go about it as they please,

Wether it's increasing resource drops in general, or the skill mods, or adding skill mods to a certain profession, or even bring back those types of harvesters, so be it, yet don't leave it in the state it is in right now.

I don't use any creature materials in optional(adv) components unless I get it myself. If you want other people to get it for you, you have to expect to pay +30cpu for thestuff, because all of a sudden the game mechanics changed and it becomes more difficult to sample resources...No wait, that's because the rich keep getting richer and the poor stay poor. I'm not going to buy the 30cpu stuff because a) I don't have that kind of money for the wayI produce, b) I'm not going to charge 10 times as much as I usually charge to get a 5% increase in output. And what's with harvesters? You spend 0.75 credits per unit to bring it up (power included) if your smart enough to put it on a decent pocket, and you can mine 100's of thousands of it in a matter of days...talk about imbalance in the crafting system, let alone the combat system

And it is getting boring and tedious with the lack of replayablily in the combat system. Spam a special, harvest, walk 100m, Spam a special, harvest, walk 100m etc. Where's my quests to get useful and USEABLE items. I guess the DEVS think pens are a cool reward...then again they work in an office no doubt, so I guess it is pretty special...lol. A lot of the people I talk to say they don't even harvest creature resources anymore because they got enough scout xp to get CH, Mst Ranger(idiots...why'd you become a ranger?)

Just some of the reasons I see why the creature reasources aren't readily available like everything else. Something needs to be done....I'm off to the Ranger Profession Board to suggest a great idea for EVERYONE to use hehe (not just BE's)

Um, medics maybe?

(oh, and last time I checked a CM could harvest a beasty after poisoning it to death)

I shoota Rill. It dies. I harvest some of its bone. I sample a Rill. It dies. Im unable to harvest. Doesnt make sense to me. Unless we as BEs totally suck all blood, organs and materials from the creature leaving an empty shell when we are done Sampling then yes I could see why we couldnt harvest

I don't think this would generate enough meat to throw my dependency on fighters for large amounts of meat out the window. In fact, in my case, I know it won't. It'll just mean instead of standing around killinglow level spawns for small amounts of meat for my clones, I can just pick it up occassionally after I corpse something. (I have no weapons, just my pets, for getting meat.) I'll still need fighters to bring in the big amounts of meat for the factory runs.
