Accounts are guaranteed to be kept for 3 months, but so far no account has ever been deleted.
This doesn't mean you can count on your account being there if you are gone for more than three months, but there is a chance it will be.
I haven't logged on for almost two months now due to a move (right now I only have my laptop, which isn't capable of running SWG), and I didn't pay for one month.
I really hope I get my desktop end of next week, I'd love to see what the game looks like now, especially considering the fact that pub10 will be out by the time I get on.

Thanks for the update. It l have heard 3 or 6 months. I know I will not be back by 3 months, but hopefully will be back within 6 months.

From the "Character Purge" thread in the "In Live" Forum:
"In mid-October, we will be doing a “character purge” of the system.This will be the big deletion of stale characters and items and it will affect all Galaxies.What this means is that any account that has been cancelled for longer than 6 months will be deleted from the database.Character names, items, lots and everything the character possessed will be permanently deleted.The Character Purge is being done to free up names and game space for incoming and existing players.
After the mid-October purge, we will be performing a character once every month.We will announce all purges at least a week prior."

I've been away from the game fer bout 5 months. My toon is a MBH and had a shiot load of items, money, and houses. Unfortunately I should'a had someone pay the rent, or upkeep my stuff cause I came back to SWG bout two weeks ago to find myself naked and almost penniless. My advice would be to have someone take care of your shiot while you're away (logon&password needed) so u don't copy my ignorance. Not too sure what happened, but someone didn't like me very much lol.

Hehe, items don't decay over time. If you were naked it sounds like someone got into your account and took your stuff.

Starting in October they are begining the purge process. Once a month, any characters belonging to an account that have been inactive for 6 monthsor more willbe deleted along with any structures they own, items in their bank, etc. The only thing that will remain is items that they crafted that other players may own.
Their name will be freed up as well when they are purged.
