Thread: Critical failures are too common with high end clones

Let me add my name to this list.

I spent my free hours this weekend collecting 9 Mutant Rancor DNA samples. I ended up with 2 VHQ, 3 HQ, and 4 AA.

My first combine was: VHQ Mutant Rancor, VHQ Mutant Rancor, VHQ Gaping Spider Hunter, HQ Mutant Rancor, HQ Merek Death's Head.

Crit failed. Thought, "Damnit. Oh well, at least I have 2 more tries."

Next combine: HQ Mutant Rancor, HQ Mutant Rancor, AA Gaping Spider Hunter, AA Mutant Rancor, AA Nocuous Kamurith.

Held my breath as I hit the button. Crit failed, again. "Damnit. There goes Saturday."

Thankfully, my last combine succeeded, or I would have lost hope.

The fact that I lost most of my weekend, and what would have undeniably been my best results, due to two successive critical failures is unacceptable. We are talking 6-8 REAL LIFE HOURS down the tube.

And let's not forget when you finally get a great mix of DNA to assemble, what happens next, you get a critical failure on the experimentation. You know how long it's been since I got a critical failure doing experimenting, it just wanted to happen on my best stock of DNA .

I am glad I am not the only one seeing these high crit fails too. I spent many hours on Endor and a few on Dath to get a bunch of good samples. Let s say that out of 15 that I might have been able to make, I only got 4 made all the way through to deed form. I was not happy at all. Lost alot of good, Hard to get DNA.

I don't know I just made a cl 70 torton and a cl 60 razor cat using mutant rancor dna and bull rancor dna so I suceeded one after the other no problems I wonder why everyone is having so many problems out of all the creatures I made since patch came out only failed once I think it is just luck of the draw.

I dont mind critical failures on experimentation cause at least you can rtesample. What I dont like is 3 hours of effort being utterly wasted when your dna is chewed up like a ragdool by your crafting tools leaving you with nothing but a total feeling that you went through it all for nothing. I mean if this was resources then fine, you can always buy large stack of it. Even architects when making a Guild hall or something can try again with realative ease cause of the amount of ore they gather. But a bio-engineer needs to spead alot more time getting the materials so criticals are even more painful.

One thing, I am semi-sure is correct.

I seem to get less cirtical failures when I mix DNA.

Made 3 great templtes by mixing toxic merek, bark mite and merek harvester DNA.

Tried to make one with all toxic merek DNA = critical failure

Anyone able to confirm/agree with me on that?

Crit fails are strange because they seem to come in bunches. I've yet to see a rash of crit fails on creatures *knock on wood*. I've had maybe 2-3 in maybe 30-40 combines.

I did have one of those rashes of them when making stims the other day though. Something like 5 consecutive crit fails either at combine time or at experimentation time. I was cussing like a drunken sailor at that point, lol.

/Agree

I managed to loose about 20 units of good quality DNA last night.

merek Death head, blood-drenched marek king, merek harvester queen and burrowing mite DNA, all gone. 4x critical failures in a row. Not a happy sampler!!

Was trying to make something big with good resists (all this DNA is 60% kenetic or above). I gave up and just got a pile of the merek avenger DNA at 45% cause at least they worked.

Something needs to be done, I agree with the fact things should fail sometimes, but I think more of a low quality DNA template created from good DNA than a critical failure's would be good, at least that way we can re-sample and get some of the qualities of the DNA back. And its not a complete loss.

Agree that the rate of crits is way too high in regards to the time and effort lost by BE's for each. Spent 2 days on Dath/Endor collecting DNA. Was able to get 22 mutant rancor dna in this time period. Took all this to my house to craft with a 14/44 in an industrial town. Using 3 mutants per template i should have been able to make 7 nice pets. Have 3 pets to show for 2 days work

crits seem to happen to me more now . i might be dreaming but im sure once you fail once theres alot more chanc of failing the next time , i might not fail for awhile then suddenly fail 3 in a row . We definetly shouldnt lose resources with crits . What worries me is how complex this new BE system is , and the more complex it is the more chance of it being bugged or not working as intended , and with a system this random its hard to generate proof of any bugs , so how many bugs are there in this new system?? is it working as intended ?? . SOE are always good at denying bugs exist till they have no choice but to admit them . I can see some BE problems ahead and a very long road to get them fixed .

I know this sounds weird, but try changing locations whenever you get a crit. It seems to be working for me, but I don't get them often enough to be 100% certain.

How long does it take to sample a mutant/ancient/eraged rancor? I tried 10 times on an enraged, got nothing, decided to move on.

Also there was a malknoc with light armor and 100%kinetic resist I couldn't sample, is that the same type of thing?
