we mask scent and run away when that doesn't work. combat skills seem to betoo costly.in order to kill the creatures we are sampling we need to be around level 80 and that is not possible with BE. since it isn't possible, most of usseem to have abandoned even trying that approach as BE's and we just incap and wait, mask scent/cammo as much as possible ... hope weget lucky ...

well it does free up some skill points if we don't even try to kill things

To do what you said, you really havta go with MBE/MCH + Business 3. To be sampling you will want the CL57 rating that MBE/MCH will give you for the fewest skill points. After that you should leave yourself the option of getting more survey skills to makefindinghighconcentrationseasier, or grab more toward the merchant skills to put more on your vendor. If you have friends that will always be available to group with you when you want to go sampling, then combat is not neccessary, and you could pickup something like tailor or chef.

Having had xx3x ranger in the past and not having it now, I really miss it. It's very, very helpful in finding the creatures you want to sample - saves time. I'm currently working toward this same template, having had it before and liked it.

does the xx3x in ranger increase your vcombat level at all? or are we stuck with CL57?

MBE/MMerchant are the way to go unless you have another toon with merchant. Cranking out factory runs of tissues will drive you insane if you don't have a vendor to store them in.

I would do MCH but without a elite combat prof all you can do is walk around with your pet and wish you could shoot a gun for damage...

It pushes your CL up to 61.

Actually, you CAN shoot a gun for damage............

Even with no combat skills you can still use a bunch of weapons - anything that doesn't require a specific skill and is less than your 58 CL.

I use a CL 54 Laser Carbine - obviously I only have the single default attack and no ability running or with specials, but it still deals a nice 2 points less damage per tick than my better pets (394 compared to 398) - enough to double the damage without attracting aggro.

I'm not sure whether this is a bug or as intended, but worth bearing in mind.

I'm a MCH/MBE and Novice Rifleman. Just last night I was soloing DL75 Kliknik Queens and doing my share with the rifle. You don't need to master an elite combat prof, just get a basic foundation.
