Just on the offchance it was a genuine question (I can't believe I'm posting on this thread) ... kindergarden is the american/canadian version of the first year of school that children have ... in this case they are about 5 years old, go for half the day and mostly play at least this was the case when I was in it but it has probably changed to drilling them in how to do advanced calculus if we are judging by what was happening in school reform when i lived in california (joke).

It should not be confused with Kinder-garten (I think) in Germanic countries which, is, I believe, a version of playschool (US/Canada) or playgroup (UK) - a play-learning environment for 3-4 year olds which is optional.

In the UK (where I live), we start in the reception year at about 4 years old, go to school all day from the start, but again a mix of play and formalized learning occurs.

So basically a 'foreign' verson of nursery school? i understand now

/gasp
So u really didn't understand what it meant? ROFL!!! I apologize, I thought you were trying to be smart about my spelling when in actuallity you were just ignorant about the definition. seriously though... a good dictionary is a good thing although good diction really screws me over.
