Thread: Creature Level
Does the CL of a creature play any role in its effectiveness?
Most of my BE-d pets so far have been under CL 10 (making 'em very nice pets for non-CHs and also for CHs struggling to keep their Max Level of Pets down), but I've made a few 11s and 13s (I'm new to BE, okay?
) yet their HAM stats don't seem radically different.
What's your views? Do you try to keep the CL down? Or is there some kind of bonus I'm missing in having higher CLs? Or is the CL calculated from the HAM of the creature?
Me confused...

Depends on what trying to do or the result you want. For now it seems can get high CL stuff and put it into a small package. I do not think we should be able to get some the stuff we are gettting. We are making much better things then we have a right to. For now I think just try to find the rsuult your looking for and take notice to how you getting it. To me cloning still seems messed up. Swapping the CL of critters and even critters with same CL are just to much different. I swapped Bull Rancor and Rancor in first 2 slots, expermented the same and and came out with one a CL26 and other cl41 and only real differeance was 41 had 40 more damage. Stuff in other slots stayted the same.
I think what you see is not only the quality but it old school information as well. The numbers we looked for to be placed where pre patch. In them stats I have gotten things higher but the quality was down to average. Umm hope this at least sorta answered question.
I am a MCH not a BE. CL matters alot to CH's. Master's can call up to level 70 non vicious characters. There is currently a bug that prevents calling above 50 vicious creatures. Since they removed armor from below cl 40 that is also very important. Also, you should be aware that another bug prevents us from using specials or ranged attacks.
There are three schools of thought on pet use. One is the one big hulking pet. The higher lvl the higher the ham, damage, and resists. The next school uses two pets at the same time. The magic number for this group is cl 34. This is the old Graul Mauler crowd and this level is usuable by CH that are not quite masters. The last crowd it the three pets at the same time. He the magic cl is 24. This also makes it usuable by lower level CH's both for one pet and two at the same time.
Most CH's also have a combat skill or two and use creatures as tanks. So armor, high kinetic, and high ham are more important to them than high damage. The majority of CH are PVE players. The few PVP players would prefer high blast resist to kinetic.
For creature size there is the practical CH's who like smaller size fast pets. It is alot easier to target a MOB when there is not a wall of flesh between you and the lair and faster animals keep up with bikes and mounts so they do not have to be stored during during travel and recalled from a camp. They also attack faster and tend not to run off or lose aggro. The other type are the ones asking for Kimo's they are more interested in show and coolness. They like being able to have something big and impressive. They would probably buy a CL1 with 1k ham and no resistsif it looked cool. The fist school used cats and insects before the nerf and the latter used Rancors.
Hope that helps.
The HAm difference from CL10-CL13 is fairly minimal. Typically the higher the HAM the higher the CL rating is until you take damage and resistances into consideration.
The simple fact is that CL = power.

Is the max creature level 70? or does it stack on the No-CH level, and become 80?
I believe wookies get a 10 point bonus on top of the 70. Everyone else is 70
