Thread: Mixed opinions on 'uber CL10' pets, but what about 'uber CL12' pets?

"Skin only effects the min level of the pet. In other words each skin has a minimum CL. I think the levels are listed in the FAQ."

I have become convinced that this is NOT a true statement, and in fact I believe that we probably need to amend the FAQ. My recent work with low level pets, including the CL1 pets I made and the CL9 and CL10 pets with armor revealed a lot about creature skin during my experimentations.
First off I sincerely hope you are correct. It very well may be that you are. There was a stealth patch to BE pets not long ago, and I don’t think anyone has done much testing since then. The patch I refer to is the one where the damage of BE pets was given a much broader min and max level. I forget the patch number.
I have noticed the same thing you have from one of my old crusty recipes. I will have to double check my notes when I get home, but I remember it as:
VD
VD
NS
NS
NS
Max Phys
One point into Prowess
This was one of my very early attempts to find a stable CL10 recipe. The main reason this recipe is burned into my brain is the frustration I went through trying to make a CL10 over 1k health. The recipe results in a CL10 or a CL11 pet in any skin. The CL from this would appear to be related to the level of success in the crafting of the pet. I had CL 11 and CL10 gnorts, banthas, razor cats, durni’s (yeah I even made durni’s), squalls, Ikopis, and kaadu’s. I was really going out of my head trying to break the CL 10 mystery at that time.
Since then I altered the recipe to make it stable, and aside from the various experimentation results lowering the CL it always comes out CL10 as long as the skin is rated for CL10 or less. Just like that geyser in Wyoming, I have come to label it "old faithful".
Again, my current recipe was/is used because of its stability, and not in a effort to push the envelope of the pet CL as my first attempts tried to do. Therefore, your results may very well be valid, and I really hope you are correct in the correlation of skin and CL. It would be nice to see that the Dev team has at least looked at the CL code.

I got used to it during my time on the Chimaera galaxy forum. We were handed hijacking xp by the regulars for a successful and cunning hijack. Although naturally, mine were horribly crude so I ended up in negative xp.
Look, I even hijacked my own thread. It must have reached its negative xp cap by now...

Interesting... obviously, people do not agree on the 2nd and 3rd generation sampling, etc... one way to reduce the CL and get the resistance and life (or whatever attribute you want) increased. Another factor that is less than consistant is using a droid with a crafting station... then, putting him up to "on purpose" fail on the certain attributes to lessen them... very hard, but very solid in results when successful. Overall, I like uber lvl 10 pets... they are a challenge and they are fun to create. Is it an exploit... depending on they way you manipulate the crafting... but it all adheres to the rules of crafting in regards to failures, successes and what is allowed currently. Will it change... not really. No matter what uber pet you create... it will NEVER be a match for a PPL with any skill or take on the strongest creatures in the game... solely because they are a support unit... no more, no less. Gone are the days of CHs having such uber pets (3 no less at at time out) with medium armor. Is CH still fun... the answer is still yes - to those that found it fun. Using a pet to be a trusty companion and to support you in fights... BE just added to some control for that.
... my 2 cents.
I'm not sure I understand what this post is trying to get across. I know how to make the uber 10's and they are very simple. I don't rely on, or even want, a failure during experimentation. The steps to making an uber 10 are nearly identical to the steps taken when crafting a "standard" 10. The only difference is the number of generations and theDNA used. I do agree with the statement regarding CH being fun however. I've been a CH since before the giant nerf. I still have my pets and I still enjoy using them.
I was goofing around and took my recipe one step further and created a CL19 animal with 10K HAM, 60% kinetic, AR1, and 120-150 damage. This is a much better tank than many of the uber 10's I've seen. It just strikes me odd that everyone gets their undies in a wad over the uber 10's, but never address the other "freak" animals that BE's make specifically for creature handlers.
