Thread: Followup: Request from a Ranger
That's why this is a pointless excercise. I can buy dath carnivore all day long at 12cr/u or less (probably average is about half that). Over the last month I've been able to aquire probably close to half a million units of the stuff when the spawns are favorable so we just don't need rangers to get that.
And all the stuff that we do need because it is difficult to aquire at any price, rangers are relucatant to get us because they already have a much much more lucrative market. And you call us stingy and we call you gougers and we go our separate ways.

I'm really looking for what's most useful to least, credits are the main goal, but honestly I doubt most rangers are selling high quality Scaley to BEs just because Armorsmiths will kill for it under the right circumstances.

I would concur with Arthur list in terms of pricing priority but I would probably push egg and herbivore meat a little higher (though I admit the herb meat is for my doc to make the sub components) Egg purely on the grounds that the nicest entertainer clothes can take up to 5 tissues (meaning 100 egg for 1 item of clothing!!)
Agreed, you could make a case for egg to be much higher on the list because of the relative difficulty in getting a big stack of it. However the tissue that is made from it, in my experience, has never been a hot seller (you could make the same case for mollusk btw).

I forgot about Mollusk...
Is this interchangeable with Egg as far as usefull stats?
Just for the case of being more specific where does bone fit into you're needs? Is it a structural component of things or is it an organic somewhat generic requirement?
Mollusk is easy to get and a waste of time for a ranger.
If I was a ranger, I would hunt nothing but avian/herb/wooly hide. It is these resources that have drove the "quantity" price up for everybody. Why hunt 30cpu insect meat when you can hunt 100cpu avian, right? ![]()

Shhhhh you!
If the man and his ranger friends want to hunt stuff for us then let them
OK... How's this look for an adjusted statement on Bio-Engineers and Rangers?
Bio Engineer
The Bio-Engineer will provide a diverse market for the scout and ranger. This is mostly because they’re needs, especially when it comes to Meat and other Animal foods, is relatively diverse. Though you may be able to provide certain amounts of Egg, Hide, Mollusk, or Bone to the BE community, it seems meat is their real interest.
Meat
When dealing with a Bio-Engineer meat is going to be a major item for discussion. In the end BEs seem to use just about every form of meat you can think of. Wild, Domestic Insect and Reptilian meats will prove to be the most versatile. Carnivore and Herbivore will also make for great sales especially in larger portions (these are necessary for factory runs.) In the form of specifics you’ll be looking for Dathomir insect meat to help with Stim Cs, and Fish meat to help with Stim Ds.
Eggs / Bones / Hide
Though meat will be you’re main seller here BE’s will provide a good market for Eggs, bones, and hide as well. In the case of Eggs there seems to be a continuing debate over their usefulness. Where these really shine through is crafting tissues for Entertainer clothing. I’d recommend smaller stacks of Eggs for sale, around 100units of egg are needed to make a single article of really good Entertainer clothing. Scaley Hide is something that is available in mass qualities to Bio Engineers but can still be sold pretty well. Large stacks are recommended for Scaley Hide, but be prepared to settle for lower prices. It’s important to note the Bone, Avian Bone and Scaley Hide all depend solely on OQ for the Bio Engineer.
Coming to the Table
The general equations to think about when coming to an asking price for these resources appear below.
Meat Generally: (OQ + PE + FL) / 3
Fish: ((2 x OQ) + PE) / 3
Bone, Avian Bone, and Scaley Hide: OQ
Eggs: (OQ + PE + FL) / 3
Milk: (OQ + PE + FL) / 3
Tell me what you think...

On eggs, bone and Hide, more specificly on eggs...
I buy eggs on my server at over 40cpu for any stack over 500. Anything under 100 I won't even buy, unless it stacks with what I have currently. Eggs are probably the biggest pain in the ass to collect in large quantity for me. I hunt most of the time I play... heck I run a business outside of BE in the harvesting world for contracts. But collecting large stacks of eggs is tough. I like making entertainer tissues myself. So I would just suggest always searching lairs, and selling eggs in large stacks, don't limit yourself to stacks of 100. Useually on a vendor, I won't buy less than 200.
The way I see it, each tissue takes 15 eggs. And the tailor has to waste a tissue on a schematic for the cloth. So 30 eggs are wasted on every same sn tissue. IE at 90 eggs, I get 4 tissues, but at 120 I get 6, and at 300 I get 18. The larger the stack the more efficient use I have.... So I pay well for large stacks. Scaley is easy to get fast, since half the stuff that drops it is big baddies, and since I only use it in tissues that use eggs, I don't need much, I will likely harvest that myself.
I would say the meat that BE's are just kinda screwed on is Herb meat, since any good shift of herb gets offered to Doc's for mucho dinero and we poor BE's just can't afford what doc's can. :-(
I am in need of reptilian though, in large stacks... I am too lazy to seek it out... seems like Tat is the only place I find it in large quantity.
Overall though.... I don't buy my stuff... other than eggs, I get it myself. All BE's have hunting 4. I have TKM, so I hunt all my own stuff, but I would buy good stuff if it wasn't insanely priced.
As a Ranger myself on Lowca, I can tell you that Avian Meat is a royal pain to hunt. That's one reason the price is always so high. On most planets, there isn't anything of decent size to hunt, so you end up only harvesting a few units from each creature. It take forever to even get a stack of even 5K. You also can't normally get missions for the creatures that drop it, so you have to run around area tracking and hoping to reach the 3 pitiful little Carrion Spats before someone else does.
On the other hand, if the Pikets on Dantooine or the Fambaa on Naboo are dropping something decent, I canharvest 10K in a couple of hours. Plus I get high mission payouts while I'm at it. And the "thunk" when the Fambaa hits the ground is so much more satisfying!
Since I harvest 4 to 5 times as much of the other stuff, I make just as much money selling it for much less. The increased missions payout really makes a difference, too. Give me the good old Pikets any day!
And by the way, you can send Arthur's share of the Carnivore Meat to Aurorra, since he doesn't need it.
I recently had trouble buying it for even 15 cpu. With the high demand for Chef tissues, I can use all I can get!
