Don't worry, reliability usually outweighs some newbie vendor...

I had the same happen to me on my server.. so you know what I did? I bought him. He now works for me.

Simple as that, try buying him. Buy dna from him.

Couldn't agree more, Todo. This guy will more than likely move on. I would not move my business, I'd change the ads (if possible).

I had a very similar thing happen to me. Global add, busy store, then one day suddenly a noob BE place directly in front of mine. cheap, cheap cheap tactic. So what did I do? moved some factories in front of his directing traffic back to my place, lol. The other guy moved very shortly after I did this.

This should be considered completely unacceptable. It doesn't matter if it's "legal" or not, it's a matter of ethics. Make sure your best customers know about this fraud, a lot of them will tell him exactly how they feel about it. They will also continue coming to you and word will spread quickly. I would also place a structure - if you can - that blocks view of his PA hall from yours. Fight fire with fire.

I can not understand why BE's would price compete. If you spend an effort at all, you will have more business than you can handle.

Selling too cheap is its own undoing. Like pounding really great resources down a rat hole. You guys see all the people coming to our boards looking for BE's.

I see pets, including Kaadu's, selling in the bazaar for 500cr. Those people also sell Bluurgs and other bugged pets without informingpeople they are broke.

I refuse to train BE's that do these things.

This is an RPG. The offender is playing a role. If this doesn't add realism to the game, then I don't know what does. Like the thief that heisted Moenia Mall on Wanderhome. No SOE driven storyline will impact the players in any way as much as other player's actions will. If you want peace and quiet and stability, play Counterstrike.

Buy up his junk clones and use them for furniture pet deed DNA? Or use 'em to make Blurrgs and then sample off those? Just a thought.

This is true, right now we're in an extremely enviable situation regarding price because of the scarcity of BE's and the demand. After the big nerf though not sure this will still be the case. It will be interesting because a lot of people on this forum have never had to survive the major price wars that other professions have.

Thats awesome. Reminds me of the way mcdonalds used to place your franchises:thousands of dollars spent on research of traffic patterns and demographics in different locationsbefore they placed one. Then burger king would come along and just build one right next to them as their policy.

Building right next to vendors that are on the global map is just good business. It sounds like pure low cost volume going against your quality and reputation. You should be happy with the competition and have fun with it. Competition is a hell of a lot more fun then just mindlessly crafting and stocking your vendor day after day.

Its going to be funny when peopletry to pullstuff like this when player towns come in. Because I doubt the townmilitiawill take kindly to unauthorized shopkeepers.

I agree. THey wont last long.

I also like the idea of buying out his stock that he is dumping. Make a new vendor, call it 'cheap knockoffs' and load it with his product.

I picked a site right on the build boundry near a city, so nobody could build in front of me. The first thing they see as they crest the hill is my shop.

That doesn't mean that it can't happen to you though. I have a friend who has (had?) a very popular (droid) shop right on the build line in Kadarra Naboo. Lots of traffic, made millions, then for some unexplained reason the build line shifted (this happened a couple weeks ago) and up went a new building right in front of his. Now anyone coming to his shop must virtually go through the other one to get to it.

It's interesting that BE's are so glib about this phenomena. People of other professions are certainlynot, and this has been going on for a long time, this is nothing recent. This can be a traumatic event to someone who has put a lot of effort into building up their business, the only reason why it is not for BE's right now is because we're in a temporary situation where demand far outweighs the supply for our products. This will correct itself. Then you're start seeing this really hurt some folks. It's no joke.

I'm a mad scientist and jungle explorer, not a greasy shopkeeper. The merchant profession is pretty much screwed as it is. Currently the Corellia starport is a better place to buy and sell high ticket items than any vendor in the middle of nowhere. Starting to look more and more like EQ's Bazaar, which is fine by me.
