Master_P our creature crafting abilities are very limited right now. We can improve the HAM of a creature that we create from our schematic list, that we know. We can increase damage, but it costs in speed. Other nebulous things include "to hit," courage, dependability, and well, those effects aren't as easy to pin down. As it stands, with few exceptions, a CH can tame something better for the cl than what we make.
Cloning changes are coming "shortly." That means it could go in along with mounts and cities, or possibly later. No definite word on that, only hints.
When the changes go in we should double our clone list, be able to add special attacks and probably light armor, change color, and change cl in addition to what we do now. All this will go into effect on things we craft ourselves, we can't alter an existing creature.
Why did I choose BE?
After playing SWG for a while, I realized that with just one character per server (and not willing to create another char on a different server because all my friends are on Gorath) I had to find a profession which would keep me playing the game for a long time. I loved my bountyhunting skills, but all could do was kill things/people ... not very funny after a few weeks. I like crafting so I looked over all those boards dedicated to the crafting professions. Finally I came to this board and stared reading... I just read about all those bugs. After I stopped laughing (took several minutes) I realized although the BE was absolutely buggy, the profession promised more fun than my BH. The Bio Engineer could only get better. In theory we can produce a lot of stuff, used by many different professions. Although all we do is crafting (with the exception of sampling critters to death) we are create a lot of different products.
I have not regreted my decision... the BE is fun...even though there are still many bugs.
Just remember that there are more Jedi artifacts out there than units of the mysterious substance called milk ![]()

I started down the BE path to help my PA out. We didn't have one. Was really looking towards the tissue line in hopes to provide my friends with quality enhancements... though at that time none of the tissues worked yet. I loved the idea of being able to add enhancements to clothing to make them unique.
I feel in love with the instant death to creatures from sampling... hee hee, freaked out lots of newbies back in the day before BE was really a known profession. Hated sampling after my... 1000's or so bearded jax. Man seeing those heads bop in your inventory gets you really dizzy after awhile, oddly reminded me of a shop in Chinatown NYC where they display those bobbying head dogs you put on the dashboard of your car. Got frustrated like hell with the grind towards the end and really started to slow down. I was afraid that all I would ever be able to do was make interesting house pets that anyone could walk by and tame or sample at will and that just didn't appeal to me.
Then the patch hit and suddenly I was being asked by tailor friends of mine (who I've practically bought out their stores twice over) what sort of tissues could I make. That really forced me to finish my BE and push for mastership finally. For all the faults and issues, I'm still loving the profession today. Its one of the toughest to make quality tissue in as unlike other lines like medical we require 3 stats to be high. Its just hard enough to find 1 stat high at times, let alone all 3 (OQ/PE/Flavor). So these days I spend probably around 90% of my time on tissue and only 10% on pets... with most of the 10% making stims for PA folks.
What I really need to do now is find some chefs. Poor guys. You think our profession is bad, just try one of them for awhile. But I really want to find a chef to try out those tissues. Maybe one day they will fix their line and we'll get business from them again.
I played EQ for .... a long time. Of course got the advertisements about SWG coming out. From those early times, from what I read then, I wanted to be BE. Just cause it is different from any other kind of game play I had heard of.
I started SWG as Artasan, and build all the equipment I use today, Houses, factroies and harvesters. ( did the Arch thing for a bit) All the time working on BE on the side. I am now fully committed to leveling BE. Through the past months, BE crafting and game play has been the most fun for me. Now that I have sampled most of the crafting vocations, I am sure I want to be MBE.
