Thread: New patch?
I am a 3,2,4,1 BE, and I love the profession I see a lot of good things From it. I know a lot of bugs still exist in my profession still. I will tell you the biggest drawbacks IMO as well as the things I think need the most fixing.
1. Around 1/3 of the creatures I can make are Un-Tameable by even a master CH.
2. to help sales of pets, BEs or everyone should be able to tell the Creature levels of the pets to know if they can use them or not.
Woops I hit something hehe (Continued)
3. Pet stimpaks need to be able to be crafted in a factory, and possibly add components under the BE tree to fix the fact that you get more med crafting xp, than BE xp. (I currently dont mind because I am also a Doctor)
4. I would also like to see a few more animal Schematics in the Clone Engineer colom but hey thats just a wish and not a bug, but I mention it because its the biggest attractor for me to BE.
I thank the Devs for any Info they could pass us to let us know the progress of the BE profession.

You are obviously one of those who obviously thinks he knows much about MMORPG developement, but chances are it is not what you do, or have ever done for a living. You and several other players attempts at flaming other players for standing up for their right to have a working product (that they actually paid for) is what is weak. Those of you who feel some strange kindredship to the DEV's and continually defend a job poorly done are what weakness is all about. Just completely ridiculous.
I HAVE done mmorpg development. by NDA I am not allowed to tell you what game that I have worked on unless you offer me employment, but if you've played even half a dozen mmorpgs then the chances are high that you've played the couple I've worked on.
if you think you're so smart, why don't you write one that is better. until then, shut your face. you're all talk and you've talked your worthless talk before.

Guys, stop the insults. This thread originated out of quite a good question you guys have taken the quality level of the thread WAY down.
Now to my thoughs...
SOE SHOULD be able to give an ETA for each next patch. They are a software development company and that is something that a software development company does (I have and do work in software development). Should they release an ETA for everything? No, since the requirements for things beyond the next patch are unknown. Should they release an ETA for the next patch? YES because the DO know the requirements for the next patch. That is something that software development companies do: get the requirements, give a quick "we can do it" or "we can't do it", then shortly thereafter give estimates on how long it will take and how much it will cost. SOE has had the requirements for the next patch for a LONG time and have had enough time to analyze the situation to do this. Some may say that requirements for the next patch could have kept increasing. That is another fault of SOE's. They should have put an end to requirement changing a long time ago, get the patch in, then work on the next changes.
I'm sorry, that is what software development companies do. Any developer that cannot give an estimate on when the next set of requirements will be finished is a horrible developer. That is part of their jobs.

Frankly, if you are one of the "**edit** the problems, release it anyway, we can fix it later" people, then you are part of the problem not part of the solution.
You claim that no program is released without bugs, problems, etc. Oddly enough console programmers have been releasing extremely solid code for years now. I think PC developers could take a thing or two from them. Granted, coding for a single platform is undeniably more of a controlled environment, but the principals are more what I'm concerned with.
Not only did SWG miss every deadline, both for betas and for actual release, but they still released a product which was not feature complete. I am well aware of the fact that bugs will exist. I've written more than enough code myself to be very aquainted with that factor. But releasing a product without even having all of it's advertised launch features in at least passible working order is just pathetic. It's indicative of one of three things: poor planning, poor development, or a publisher hatchet-job.
Personally I'm more inclined to think the latter of these, because the overall layout of the project looks good from the info we've been privvy to, the changes implimented seem sound, and the TYPES of changes planned seem intelligent. But we all know that SOE is a HIGHLY profit motivated company. Now there's nothing wrong with that, making a return for their investors is what they are in this business for in the first place. But doing it at the expense of the quality of their product is poor form.

Naikrovek,
You are obviously one of those who obviously thinks he knows much about MMORPG developement, but chances are it is not what you do, or have ever done for a living. You and several other players attempts at flaming other players for standing up for their right to have a working product (that they actually paid for) is what is weak. Those of you who feel some strange kindredship to the DEV's and continually defend a job poorly done are what weakness is all about.Just completely ridiculous.
Now you did have a valid point. There will always be bugs, and balancing issues. But in this case, that is irrelevent. The DEV's fixed 100k+ bugs in a 3-4 year developement period. That's approx 25k yearly, or 2100 a month. Are we seeing that kind of progress here? NO, we are not. We are seeing more like 25-50 bugs a month being fixed. Why? My guess would be they are working on the expansion and mounts, instead of focusing their resources on problems they already have. This game should not have been released until at least the professions were in working order. If they had put a disclaimer on the box that said " professions will be working at an undetermined later date" not many people would have purchased this game, except the desperate. The communication from the DEV's has been terrible. They just dangle a carrot , by making some vague open-ended statement that does not say WHEN it will be fixed. For you to say that they can not say when, that it will be done when it's done, is also impecabley weak. Deadlines are part of just about any business. Upper management should be telling them when they have to have it done by, and then should give them the time and resources to get the job done. They were able to project the release of the product to an exact day (even though it moved several times, and no one complained), why not the fix on a profession ? Even if they couldn't meet the deadline, if they communicated the difficluties to the community, no one would flame them.
To the rest of you who give emotional, sissy-mary responses when someone stands up for their right to get what they are paying for. Don't complain about someone exercising their right to free-speech/expression. We all know there arepeople out there who would love to take those rights away from you.You should be more supportive of those who are standing up for their consumer rights. They are the reason you don't get taken advantage of more often. Stop bringing up old legacy hardware and outdated operating systems. It only shows your age, not your IQ, which are both probably about equal to each other. The basics should have been running effectively on THIS game before release, or it should have stayed in BETA for another 6 months to a year. The people in these forums are not even really complaining about the game not being balanced, or about professions not being fixed. They are complaining about the lack of communication as to what the projected schedule is for a fix on this profession's issues, and they are absolutely in the right. It has been just plain terrible. They have been fixing the professions and concerns of the majority of the population, which from a business standpoint makes sense. Just don't ignore the rest of the community. If just 2500 people drop in any month ( as I will on Sept 25th if I dont see some progress on BE issues) or even over a few months, it equates to$300k in annual revenues. Now if 10% of the population drops, that number goes up to $3MIL +. Anyone who is familiar with a P&L statement can tell you the affect that can have on your bottom line, and dividends paid to shareholders. Soare hundreds of thousands, or millionsof dollars worth the five minutes it would take to inform the community? I don't think so. To those who say "if you don't like it, leave", is that what you say when you run out of excuses to defend the DEV's?People have the right to stand up for themselves. A lot of us have invested over $100.00 into this product and still don't have what we thought wewerepaying for. The reality is that if you don't like people standing up for their and your rights, then feel free to move to a country that frowns on that sort of thing. In other words YOU can leave if YOU don't likeit.
To thosewho disagreed with the post here and were actually factual and respectful, there were some good points about the profession, but nothing there thatanswered theWHEN question. Everyone keepssaying in the next big patch, butno one knows when it will be released. Just another fact, there has been one major patch in about 90 days. You could all be waiting and paying a long time before you see the next one. I won't be as I will move on.
This profession is nothing special or valuable to the community. Until they put the work and creativity into this profession that it deserves, it will continue to suck. Lots of potential here to be the coolest and most valuable profession in the galaxy if they do it right. Don't think it will happen though, as the expansion is coming out in a few months and with that a whole new bag of bugs.
In closing, learn to support each other when there are obvious problems and issues that the DEV's are slacking on. You will get a lot more accomplished if people were to stick together. I had another thread I started that Quid canceled as "unconstructive", just because there was a large part of the community that agrees with me. Now they found the time to cancel the thread, but could not find the time to address any of the issues contained in the thread. Pretty convenient, don't you think? You don't have to just accept anything that people shove down your throat, as no beneficial changes have ever been made by those who were complacent. Most people who stood up for themselves in history were unpopular with someone at some time. Normally, it was those who were in power over the issues they were protesting. Think about it.

lets write about the patch not how Devs arent doing their jobs, huh? I dont think pointing fingers is going to help the devs make a patch. so just shut up and give them ideas not insult them.
Well, when you ask when the new patch is going to be, the only thing to talk about is the devs, when they're going to do it, and why it hasn't been done yet. Sorry.
They have stated that the current story arc will finish soon, ie in a week or two. I would expect the next big patch to be around the end of this month orfirst week of October. Will the tissue fixes be in that patch. That is one thing we don't know but can hope for. I figure a month patch for SOE may be more like 6-7 weeks and not 4-5 weeks. I guess player cities may go in before creature mounts. The change/fix to clone I would expect to come with creature mounts.
Question I have is will we have mounts, vehicles, player cities, etc. before the next expansion or not. I hope to have alot of the core balance issues and fixes in before the "space" expansion. Of course there are two different development teams working on the project I'm sure.
Sorry for the general timeline but it is all I have.
"if you think you're so smart, why don't you write one that is better. until then, shut your face. "
Naik thats way out of line, I might have given your views some creedence until you posted that.
He is paying for a product that isn't working as advertised. Not just a little broken, a LOT BROKEN.
We have people on these forums guess-timating the release of the patch. Tansun wrote : (and I'm not trying to take a shot at you bud)

Now if Tansun can estimate the releasedate for the patch, how come the DEV's can not? Tansun found time to post his estimation, so don't you all think that the DEV's could be gracious enough to post their estimation of when this profession will be fixed. I don't care about mounts, or the expansion. If they can't get this to run, when they add more to it, it still wont run. I just want to know when we will get a patch that resolves a major portion of the bioengineer issues. We shouldn't have players trying to guess when, just hoping and praying that the DEV's willrelease a patch soon.
As I stated previously, for me there is only one solution to this problem should it not be solved by the DEV's in a reasonable period of time. I will simple leave with my money. Everyone else has to make up their own mind. I refuse to pay for product developement, when I am not getting a check for my share of the profits. WOW, only ten days left till I bail, unless of course they decide to tell us what their plans are. I wonder if I will see anything before the 25th. Isn't it suspenseful ???????
