enough of these self serving rationalizations - everyone with half a clue knew what went beyond reasonable

thunderheart clearly stated when discussing the changes to creature handler that the non-ch were being moved to cl 10 because things such as the rock beetles were simply too powerful. that non-ch will never have pets with light armor again. so when bioengineers started to create no-ch pets with light armor and 2-3x the ham of a rock beetle by exploiting a bug with sampling from clonesit was clearly'not working as intended'.

grandfathering will be rewarding the exploiters while punishing those who arent opportunists trying to take advantage of a new system. people should be able to simply turn them in like the prepatch no-ch pets for a new functioning one.

Again people find the need to take one side or the other, yes they said that that they were bringing non-ch pets in line but they also said theat BE creatures would be better then the wild versions, yes I have half a clue BUT again with no documentation on the system how is someone supposed to know what is right. Yes we all come to the boards and look at what people write and conclude what is wrong or right but we are a small percentage of the game. To say that we are exploiting a bug of a system that has not been documented is just plane wrong, the average user got a new system, they made pets, and they were amazing.

Did I make any "uber" non-ch pets, no I became a BE to support my other profession of Master CH. Are any of the pets that I created when I was a BE made with the offending DNA, no not at all. All I am doing is trying to defend the individuals who were using the undocumented system that was presented to them, and by documentation I am referring to ranges of stats, I don't believe we needed to be spoon fed exactly what went where.

I respect your opinion, but i disagree with you. And just a little hint for you guys..stop posting what professions you have mastered...nobody cares

For that statement to remain true I would have to not care, no? Since I do care and I do like to see what people have mastered, you are wrong.

nonsense

just think through the effect of creating these nch pets with stats appropriate for 40-50. first obviously you have a great pet for characters that doint wish to take up the ch profession. so instead of investing 63 skill points the nch pet gives comparable power to a near master ch at a cost of 0. pretty clearly broken and if the developers didnt catch that before it went in it is the players responsibility. then again samples from clones giving a stat of 0 in cleverness and 1k+ in dependability is also never found on wild dna. even peko albatross dna doesnt go over 1k in stats.

this was a small part of the overall creature revamp which was a huge undertaking. everyone should have expected some sort of issues to come along with this big a change so these tantrums are getting old. it would be far better to work up a list of ideas that we would feel appropriate for various levels and presenting it instead of the nerf whining that seems to have taken over the board.

I agree totally. This system has been majorly revamped and for the better. Those people making pets that far exceed the logical expectations should know what is a good pet to sell/make. i realize there is not a bit of REAL documnetation as to the abilities that we should make, but it is NOT an excuse to make them. Some people found an "exploit", but your own decision to take advantage of such only proves your inability to make sound and reasonable decisions. Bio-engineer can and do make extremely good pets. They always will. It is the responsible ones that know if a creature is too good to be true. If you need documentation to say what is right and what is wrong then i have to say you have no morals. It really boils down to "gee how far can i bend the truth to fit my situation" or "gee today i have a bunny that movies will be made of". Bio-engineers have the understanding that the possibility of making super-pets is possible, its a question of should they make super-pets.Ido understand that there are some unscrupulous people out there (some people call them terrorists others call them freedom fighters...) that will do things to see if they can, just ask the question "should I??". if the answer is "well there arent any rules..." it is obvious your intent is to do it anyway. now imagine that a real scientist makes a plague that cannot be cured and it is introduced to the public....is it his fault the people die from it? you decide.

There will be no grandfathering of pets after the Feb publish, a system will be put in place (like the one we experienced for a few days the other week before it was relaxed temporarily) where the stats of a creature called will be tested against its CL and if deemed 'illegal' by the system will be rendered uncallable and therefore permanently incarcerated. MUahahahahaha.

So you may as well stop hoping for pre-nerf pets to usable after the next patch, it won't happen.

ACTUALLY, I care. Reading his profession mastery adds legitimacy to his words. YOU on the other hand are most likely just a 4/0/0/2 BE, so I don't trust your words because you don't really know what you're talking about.

I'm a CH so I'm a bit biased here but no way should those things be grandfatherd. You cant even begin to think that they would intentialy give non CH's pets that were an order of magnitude worse than the pets that they had once agian nerfed the CH's for haveing. I didnt buy any of those pets despite the fact that I could have used 3 of them at once because I knew they were too unbalenced to stay. Instead I bought more reasonable pets to replace the maulers that I used to use befor they were nerfed. to be honest my new ones are far better than the maulers in every way so I'm not to bitter about that at least.

PS please loby for a flying skin. I would kill for a BE'd pet that could keep up with my swoop. have several wild flyers that keep up with me but no armor and crapy resists make them useless for anything but show.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

You mean money duping is beyond the scope of 'common sense' and players should do it whenever they find the bug, instead of stopping and reporting it? Failure to use a little common sense can get you killed or jailed in real life, why should there be an expectation that everyone playing has the sense of a 5 year old?

"There should be borene in mind that there is nothing more difficult to arrange, more doubtfull of success, and more dangerous to carry through than initiating changes. The innovator makes enemies of all those who prospered under the old order, and only lukewarm support is forthcoming from those who would prosper under the new,. Their support is lukewarm partly from fear of their adversaries, who have the existing laws in their hands, and partly because men are incredulous, never really trusting new things unless they have been tested by experience"

So since you seem to know exactly what TH was thinking please let us know what is and isn't a valid pet. I made per"fix" pets at 2-2.5K HAM with ~14% resists to Kenetic. Is this uber? Well according to the Devs it is as it can't be pulled. Now I make 1.5-2K HAM pets with 20% resist which work fine. I don't think anyone disagrees an 8K lv 10 pet is unbalanced, but I feel what I was making was just better than wild, which is exactly what we are supposed to do.
