Tents scream vendors, houses don't. So if you have the option of getting your vendor in a tent, do so.

Ok here are a few tips from a CH that has been visiting every BE vendor that I can find.
!) Advertise yourself. Try to put your vendor on the crtl-m map. Also put what exactly is there. I am more likely to stop by a specificly detailed vendor rather than Skippys Pet Shop. A vendor that says High Level BE'd Pets will attract my attention.
Having a good supply in a good area and then advertising on the forums is 1000x better then the vendor maps.
2) Know how to organize your pets in the vendor. Some of you have a LOT of pets...thats good and bad. Most of us CH dont really care about the pricing aspect (which can be negotiated sometimes) but I hate having to sift through non descriptive vendor listings hoping to find what I am looking for. I want tanks for PvE, thats pretty much it. I will do the real damage, so I look for pets with AR. If it doesnt have any AR I probably wont buy it. Good resists are very nice to have, but AR is king. Also, BAD resists are something to avoid in the PVE dept (for me anyway). High HAMs are nice, but EVEN hams are better. Having high health and action and a low mind does me no good (well, I can always heal the mind with /trick, but you get the point).
There are only 3 types of pets a BE should really sell. 1) A nonCH pet 2) A 2 combo set sold in a bag 3) a 3combo set sold in a bag. They must have high health, maxxed kinetic, good specials, and for the CH pets light armor. Non CH pets should be under 11 and CH pets should all be around Level 23.
3) Put in a Travel Pack priced at 9999999999 with additional information on how to contact you (also list the item as Please Read in the vendor list). Is this character an alt, main, are you out grinding your Jedi, what about your guild or PA vendors...etc. Sometimes just sending an email to the person marked as "item creator" will not get a response in time.
Shouldnt be needed if you keep your vendors stocked the way I mentioned above
4) Stims will always have a market. I have medic skills too, but I am always on the lookout for good pet stims. Crate them or sell them individually and if I find a seller that sells good quality stims at fair prices chances are that person has a customer for life.
Yes, stims are an important part of a rich BEs market!
5) If you can put different vendors in your house. Make one the standard "non-CH pets under level10" vendor and have a CH PVP vendor (the kind with strong poison/disease) and maybe a PVE vendor.
Waste of a vendor. Keep them the way I mentioned and you will be golden! Though I do keep my pet/stims seperated from my Tissues. Only because I have a Factory Crate vendor for full runs of certain items.
6) Most of us non-BEs have NO clue what or how your class operates so be prepared to be asked lots of questions.
Keep a solid inventory and you shouldnt need to ask questions.
7) The lack of pet perma-death and the ability to have lots of pets (stored in my data pads or on other vendors/guildies) means there IS a good market for pets....but it will take time as each CH is different with his/her requirements. I would gladly spend a large amount of credits on just one BE who could fulfill my pet requirements...I just have not found one yet.
Good CHers dont need alot of pets. Only 1 good combo and the rest of his/her slots can be used on rare/status pets.
8) Most MCH have only a couple of "real" pets they use (they are all BEd) and the rest are "for show" (the rares or extinct or "jus the cats ma'am) but those real pets are worth their weight in gold.
Didnt I just say that, and you just contradict yourself?
9) Try to get pets close to lev70. A level 46 AR pet is good but not great. That whole MCH thing about having three pets out at one time is a joke (unless of course they are three heavily sliced pets or whatever it is you do to them) One awesome pet is better than three good pets in PVE.
3 good pets is ALWAYS better than 1 good pet. Keep pets at 23ish CL.
10) Be creative. Lots of CH are role-players or creative types. I am amused by some of the things vendors say when you walk in the house etc...makes your place more memorable and as we CH travel EXTENSIVELY we are bound to hit every shop in the galaxy.
Creativity doesnt matter. Solid stock and a good location is all that matters.

another reason to have higher level pets is DPS
well it's the only real good reason actually
a well-made lvl 70 can outdamage triplets and twinsvery easily, just won't be able to take up as much damage before going down

It all dpends on the situation that's why I have mutiple pets, if I'm solo I prefer on cl70 pet as the MBE/MCH/Ranger 0030 template doesn't let me do alot of damage on my own. If I've with a group I normally use twins or triplets or maybe my screecher with a cl15 depending on what we're hunting.
