Yes, LOL. I'm a non-CH on TC, and reported all this stuff before. The 60% magic number means nothing. It happens to work out for a couple of pets, but is largly incorrect.

Last night, my brother brought me a giant carrion spat, which he had just tamed. It was CL1. He taught it the transfer command, and gave it to me. I trained it as a mount, and gave it back.

(By the way, a baby GCS is about the same size as an adult carrion spat)

The first time you pull out a GCS after it's reached adulthood, you'll get a pop-up window. It will ask if you want to stunt the growth. If you say 'yes', it will drop the CL from 17 to 7, and it will never grow again. If you say 'no', it will stay at 17 forever, and you will never be able to use it as a mount. There is no way to get the pop-up window again.

Now, consider the fellow that has a CL7 GCS, and has it trained as a mount. They store it, and call it the next day. It has grown to CL9, and the saddle is gone. Then, he will get a pop-up asking if he wants to stunt the growth. If he says yes, he will have to go back and train it as a mount again. If he says no, it will never be usable as a mount again.

Now, consider the non-CH who is looking for a quick fix for a mount. A CH friend grabs a GCS, and stunts the growth. Can it be traded to the non-CH now? No, but not beacause of the CL. It can't be traded, because non-CH people cannot use viscious creatures.

BE kaadus cannot be trained as a mount at CL5, but can at CL6. Every animal has it's own "minimum age", and some (like the GCS), that age is 1.

This is just a theory, but is it possible for the pet in the first post to have stopped growing because the person had his maximum pet levels in his datapad? IE if his max pet levels is 40 and he had two pets that totaled 30, then he tames a creature for a mount, it would stop at 10. I think this is right anyway. I have had other pets stop growing, and the numbers added up that I had the max pet levels I could have.

Anyway, just a thought.

Max pet levels have nothing to do with the pets in your pad. If that was true a master CH could only have one good pet in their pad. Max pet leves is the total number of pet levels you can call at one time.

Just took a BE kaadu deed and looked for this "grow as mount" command. I didn't see it. I tamed it and looked under the taming commands and it wasn't there either.

I just trained a kaadu mount for my husband at lvl7. (just got Emp4)I told him to check it tomorrow to tell me if it grows. My falumpaset is lvl3 and shows no train as mount command yet, though I was able to train my full grown dewback. Need another taming level before I can test anything with the brackaset or the bol.

To clear up some confusion, here is how it appears to work.

The whole thing is based on the size of the model of the creature - it needs to be sufficiently big to not look silly as a mount, yet not too big.

So far the only mount-trainable pet where the maximum size appears to bea limit is the Giant Carrion Spat, which also starts off big enough to ride as a newly-tamed baby. This needs to be capped at the point where it hits CL 7, and as previous posters have said, you only get one shot at this.

Other pets do not get this stunt growth option (apart from, apparently, Tortons, which hints at a future mount possibility).

The exact point at which a pet can be mount-trained thus varies according to the model size. For example, a Lesser Plains Bol (new CL 10 wild variant) needs to be CL 8 (80% growth), whereas a Mountain Dewback (much bigger) only needs to reach 40% growth.
