I think that given the sudden influx of CH's, a pre-CU pet would bring an easy million or more at CL 68-70. Prior to the CU I charged a mil for a CL 69-70 pet given the time it took to get the MR samples.

So do you recommend mixing in post DNA as well? Is there a trick? I tried making some last night with all pre-CU DNA and didn't get anything extravagant. Even without armor won't they be re-spec'd when called? Thanks.

I havent had a pet I made from pre-CU DNA need to be repsec'd yet. I have only been able to squeeze 10-12K Health or 750 max damage under CL 70. Anytime I have gotten into the 800+ max damage range I get CLs in the 75-78 range.
My generic template is High health in the first slot (dont know anything better than pre-CU YMP). Then a nice power sample in slot 5. I like pre-CU MDH, AQ, MR. The other 3 slots are all used to keep fort under 500.
Use the DNA Lab at swgcreatures.com to find out what your projected fortitude will be.
