How I did it (new character, no combat skills)
DNA 1: (Corellia) Gubburs and minor gubburs.
DNA 2: (Corellia) Same as above, but with gurrcats and ikopis thrown in. (This was by far the most tedious box, for me)
DNA 3: (Dantooine) Bols. Got two missions and ran between each of them.
DNA 4: (Dantooine) Bols and pikets. Managed to get at least 2 or 3 samples per critter, speediest box after the first.

Actually, if you're grinding you should have done your DNA sampling first. If you're 4404, then you're going to be wasting all those samples that would have given you lots and lots of experience for the other 3 columns.
I was just gathering samples to make pets, i wanted pets and i wanted to find out what made good pets, so I sampled everything I could get away with. When my inventory was full, I would make them into templates. When my inventory was full of templates, I would turn them into critters of all kinds and store them in my basement. By the time I finished DNA sampling, I was 2041 and had about 100 pets. I had a friend put them on a vendor at 1k per level flat rate. The money pours in faster than I can spend it. I put my pet making on hold for a week to make a big batch of pet stims and the money pours in faster now.
I did my tissues line last before mastering. I did the grinding thing to finish my tissues line finally. I don't sell tissues, I give schematics to my chef friends and they supply their own materials. They all also keep me in a steady supply of whatever chef items I want for free. Same with tailors. I love clothes and they all know it.
My pets and stims still bring in more money than I can spend.
