what ever you do don't get a harvesting droid, they are a fricken waste of money, slower than sh**, and barely harvest more than you can already with the hunting 4.

yep. figured that one out a few weeks ago. it sucked.

i would like a droid that tells me dirty jokes while i go out sampling.

also, i like the idea of having one that adds a bonus to the success insampling.

One character I have I dropped all hunting skills (was hunting 4, now novice scout box only). He uses a "meat bot" (I think the rating on it is 108) and continually out harvests people with hunting 4. They are not happy about it, lol. But the droid literally gives me 14 more skill points to play with. As a rifleman they are great because you can remain prone and continue to pick off your prey without having to get up and harvest and "reset" all the time, or worry about corpses "poofing". And when I hunt with others, because I don't need to stop fighting to harvest and they do, I can harvest all corpses pretty easily, which my comrads inevitably miss some. Simply indepensible.

My problem with the meat harvesting droids is that the first moment I take damage, they run. When the time comes to harvest, they are 150m away, and can't hear the command. Even when they do hear the command, they'll take off again the moment I start on another mob. My combat skill is in the pistoleer tree, so it involves taking a calculated amount of damage. When the droid works, it increases yield. But most of the time, it just causes me grief. I eat plenty of veghash and harvest by hand.

I also bought a storage droid, special ordered to be filled with storage modules...only to learn that they do not stack.

I would only have that problem when I group with my droid. When I don't group him he usually sticks around. Also what is better then being to harvest while still fighting? I love mu harvesting droid.

Yea, perhaps that is his problem. I personally never group with my droid, and perhaps it is coincidence or not, but have almost never seen my droid get attacked. Maybe 1 out of 100 lairs if that.

BEST IDEA EVER!!!

Also, I would agree with the general consensus that harvesting droids need a bit of improvement. And I would also like to cast my vote behind a sampling droid. My idea would be something like the harvesting droid (i.e. it would be dependant on your sampling skill), which would effectively add, say, 5-10 points to your sampling skill. Also, since the droid itself would be doing the sampling, the be would have an extra couple of seconds to run away. Less time spent incapped is a good thing by me.

The hunting droids are very useful.....I don't hunt without one.

I know I will catch heck for this one but, how about aspecific module for MBE "only". A"Vendor" module that will hold 150+ items. No barking to add to the lag.

The fact that I had to give up my beloved Scout Explore 4 for an efficientmeat hunting template -TKM and the Artisan Business 3 vendor gets myhackles upa little. Not that I am sampling MR's anymore anyway but, I noticed Merek Harvesters aresniffing me out alot sooner than I had hoped as well.

I tried less than complete combat templates for meat gathering but, then you run into a time constraint of killing somewhat expeditiously. I had Swashbuckler for awhile and it was ok....just kinda slow for gathering meat.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.....and "NO"....I don't want any advice on what I need to do to get the vendor, a meat gathering combat profession and Scout Explore 4 all at the same time.....I'm quite through withthat whole scenario and it is played out. Save it!!! LOL

The 50 -100 item DNA storage would be nice too....

Last year I mentioned an idea for DNA storage that also solved the inefficient label problem. At that time, blood sampling became the rage, and so the idea passed unnoticed.

I thought it might be nice to have a Genetic Engineering Lab based on the factory concept. There could be two styles of lab, one usable by a lower level and one usable only by a master BE. The lab would be a combination DNA storage module, crafting tool and crafting station. The lower level lab would store 100 DNA samples, and the upper level one would store 200 units and occupy two lot spaces. Incidentally, this is the same storage provided by the factories so many of us use to store DNA anyway.

When you "enter" the lab, your avatar location shows inside it, just as if you were inside a house. However, your own screen changes to a manufacturing screen showing a spreadsheet of the DNA stored in the lab with no icons, but all the data. The spreadsheet could be sorted by any stat by clicking on the column heading in the same way any inventory list can be sorted in the list view. While inside the lab, you could assemble generic DNA, with perhaps a small benefit in the form of decreased failure rate, an increase of one experimentation point, or perhaps the ability to accept the template or revert back to the original DNA.

This would give minimal benefit to the BE except in the convenience of being able to work with the DNA all at once and to store it in a form where it is easily viewable. Again, it doesn't increase allowable storage over the factories used by many BE's to store DNA already. It might benefit the game in that the only code used by the lab would be that for making the DNA templates, and therefore perhaps a little less demanding on processor time or bandwidth than a factory.

The lab would, of course, be an architect item. It could contain a mechanical component that is a DE item.

How about - on a very limited scale - a DNA Replicator. Take a DNA sample and creates a very limited number of identical samples - maybe 4 or 5.

Along with this would be a random chance that, based on the quality of the module, the DNA Replicator would eat the sample and give nothing. Or it may screw up the sample and return infeior replcants.

Then, let us run pets in a factory using these identical samples.

Just a thought,

i sugegsted this in my initial write up for proposed mods i doubt i am the first DE to think of it i just have a big guild with all kinds of crafters and the BE's bitc....gripe about storage constantly it got so bad for one of them to help i shared part of a farm of city lot traded small houses for them. i feel your pain a r3 takes roughly 34 subcomponents so if it uses 6 different primary modules (like storage, medical so on) that is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 different kinds of subcomps...... storage for DE sucks as well as you could guess.

Or how about, a nice playful little droid that can lure, tempt and bafflethose nasty mutant rancors (though not attack)while you sneak up on them and shove your DNA probe up them. Tee hee.
