Thread: High quality crafting tools and stations are a bad thing
I do not see any difference if I use high end station and tools or low end.
Not for Bio Engi, not for Medical stuff and not for Architect.
There are good days and there are bad days. Sometimes you get 10 crits one after the other on a +40 station... sometimes you can craft for days without any crits at all.
In my opinion the whole thing DOES NOT WORK.
I used to be a Master Bio Engineer and was working to master CH (dropped all BE and CH with the announcement of the CH changes).
My crafting tools are both 14.55, the crafting station is 42.
This is how my last experience as a BE went. Get a bunch of DNA samples, make Kimogilas (made 6). Can't sample them
. Get a bunch more DNA samples (50 to be exact), make 10 gurrecks (4 critical failures on combines). Of the 6 that combined I had 5 critical failures during experimentation. Okay. Now I have 6 Gurrecks. I sample them, I get 15 DNA samples. Not very good but at least I can get 3 good pets from it. Here's how it went:
First combine: Critical Failure
Second combine: Critical Failure
Third combine: Critical Failure
Now add in the Creature changes and the fact that we still can't make 1/2 the tissues because the devs won't put in milk, mullosks, crustaceans, etc. They're too busymaking holocraps.
Just in case there is any doubt, yes I am bitter.
Wow, ok Reasonable, I belive you now, lol, here's what happened to me last night on my high quality personal crafting station and with high quality tools:
Was trying to do a factory run of pet stim b's. I had 800+ OQ fungus and 900+ OQ fiberplast.
1st combine: crit fail
2nd combine: sucess, crit fail during experimentation (I always experiment 2 points at a time)
3rd combine: success, crit fail during experimentation
4th combine: success, crit fail during experimentation
I stop, cuss out my cursed crafting station and tools and continue
5th combine: crit fail
6th combine: success, big failure during experimentation
7th combine: success, crit fail during experimentation
8th combine: success, crit fail during experimentation
9th combine: success, success during experimentation *whew*
My 100 batch of pet stim b's got reducted to a 91 batch and now I'm ready to go on record to say a) something has definitely changed b) it's very hosed.
Might be something like malleable materials are easier to craft without critical failures, and some of the lesser used attributes have value.
Might also be bad luck.
ANother theory- go too high with bonuses and you hit a cap and rollover to negatvies.
My experience with 14% tools and a 41% station is I can normally get a decent schematic the first try.
I have always wondered whether to experiment one box at a time or many. When I was at tissues 4 but not a master, some of my best tissues I got when I slammed the experiment bar all the way to the right on the first attempt, and were I to go up box by box invariably I would see at least one crit failure. I think that the faliure rate is per experiment run, not box checked, so if you have 10 boxes to experiment and you blow them all in one run, you can get an amazing success on all and get a supurb product. I have also tried stopping one box from maximum, and that seems to yield good results, but then again people will correllate just about anything to random phenomena.
