What is a legal pet?
I'm not sure about this one. Really this is a very complicated question. Say a legal cl 10 pet is no more than 2500 ham, no more than 100 damage and no more than 20 total resist. Does this mean a valid cl 10 pet could have 2500 ham, 20 kinetic and 100 damage? Well, probably not, Anyone who's done many of them know to get 2500 ham, you have to sacrifice the damage. And that's just cl 10 in a system that goes up to 70. Would a better question be what is the maximum cl bonus we can get on a pet? What do you guys think? Would you rather ask for a better explanation of the cl formula given Keldarins reluctance to give us any formulas?
I would say the most important question is:
1) What is the formula used to calculate CL?
Having good documentation on how CL is calcuated will resolve most of the grief we have now. Even if we can't get the approximate CL listed on the DNA template as we experiment on it, knowing the CL calculation would be good enough
The HAM formula is hardiness x 18 = health, dexterity x 18 = action, intellect x 18 = mind. Usually accurate to within around 200 points of HAM.
2. IMO, getting 700 points for sampling a Bark Mite Burrower Queen is great. But if I craft a pet with 5 BMB Queen samples, souldn't I get more than like 300 points? I think crafting points awarded for pets is too low.
3. Why can't i harvest from a creature I kill with my evil BE Needle of Death?
4. When do you plan to screw this profession up again?
I tried to think of questions that related to the "fun" factor of this "game".
1. What are the definative formulas used to determine clone stats? Math is not fun alone..but mystery is just plain frustrating.
2. Why did you cap the sampling level at CL75? If someone wants to make an untamable pet...let them. Some of us sample for sport and the higher end mobs offer a true challenge.
3. Why cap the Kinetic/Energy resists to 60%. We were hit hard enough (CH and BE) by the lack of Medium Armor. Just let it be another trade off in the final CL equation(whatever that is?) and remove the caps. It is disheartening, thus less fun,to have such limitations.
4. Are critical failures working as intended for the BE profession? The current ratio is just depressing.
5. Are you ever going to consider allowing any of the AOE attacks to be put into clones? These attacks have the potential to bring the CH class up a notch in the PvP arena, in which they are not much a part of since the CL70/Med Armor nerfs. As an MBE/MCH/Ranger with no combat skills, I sometimes miss PvP and with the new GCW changes on the way, this would be a good way to bring the CH back into this aspect of the game.
6. Why shouldnt a Master BE be needed to place a Cloning Center? It is a logical requirement and puts the BE on the list for city development requirements.
7. What's on the horizon for BE in the name of fun?
Thats all I got. Thanks Talthazar!
Lots of good questions here..I'd hate to sound redundant, but he's taking the most asked questions, soooo....
1) Can we please get a CL indicator on templates or perhaps in the process of making them we can adjust up or down as was implied in the initial class... perhaps after successful experiments we can choose up/down on adjusting a set of traits.
2) Please PLEASE let us harvest (and loot for that matter) from what we've oversampled.
3) I also would like to see a couple fliers be made available to us (and consider this a vote for the Pharple too!)
4) Either give us more color selections for pets, or perhaps tie in with yet another class and allow Image Designers (whatever they're called) to do small enhancements on our pets with our permission (maybe eye colors, horn or teeth, extra length/shortness in certain things, etc.)
5) How about upping the limit as to what we can sample? I for one would like to try and test the upper limits of high-end critters (being an almost master BE/Master CH) and want other high-end beasties to sample from besides rancors..how about that Blurrg Raptor? heh heh heh...
6) As far as the DNA sample stacking issue, I like the concept of standardized DNA samples as was discussed in another topic here..
7) Do you foresee in the future special skill modifiers for the right class combinations? (In D&D they're called "Prestige Classes"...perhaps a BioEngineer/Chef can get certain tissue bonuses or a CH/BE can control a slightly higher single pet (like a CL 80!). I think there could be something to this idea.
8) If fish is going to remain a staple for high-end tissues, can we please either fish from the middle of a lake in our landspeeders (like a backwoods show!) or how about getting an artisan/tailor who can make us crabpots/traps or even nets?
9) I have no question no. 9.
10) Um, can we please sample the primitives? (korga, pubam, drall, selonian)....no? well, I had to ask...
Thanks for letting us provide some feedback. Its always nice to feel like you are part of the process. However small a part, a part none the less.
