Thread: realy BE takes 12 hours just in grinding?

As far as yard trash vs mid-level creatures - true, you get better XP by going out into the field a bit, but the advantage to yardtrash is it spawns so close and so fast you can basically sample nonstop, you wont have to find a new lair once you clear the old ones out or run back and forth to town. It also makes it easier to get a BE to come train you when you're near town, or to just usethe NPC trainers to pick up the first two boxes. Its a matter of time vs exp efficiency - the nature of the question is getting BE ground out fastest, not smartest or least boring =) Plus, for those of us who are NOT hologrinders (IE heterosexual) and spent a lot of cash grinding BECs for O-chem, yard trash sampling quickly nets you afair deal of meat with aggro one-hits and harvest =)

Actually, you get 92 DNA sampling XP usually for trash. And promise me, the macro works. If you place your character outside the Cloning Center at theed (at a static spawning point) you won't fail. I have modified it countless times so it would work. And if you maximice field of view, scroll out as much as possible. And have it in a good angle, you won't be able to not target a creature.

What do you mean by wasting your time? Leave the computer over the night and the next morning you have 5,5 k more DNA sampling XP. And you haven't done a s h i t. just go to theed, go to the spot I said, and activate the macro. I don't see the part that takes 2 hours! Do you?

Points well taken for both the cash and the yard trash, but I sort of fell into the pattern that worked best for me. My BE is an alt (not a hologrinder - I'm actually interested in the profession), so the cash was less of an issue to me. The meat was also not an issue as I'd hunted up a bunch of meat myself, and a guildmate gave me a bag of grinding meat that he'd saved up but not needed.
Guess my point was that there's lots of ways to skin the proverbial cat.
To counter your point about the yard trash spawn, you also have to consider that sampling takes a fixed amount of time. If you can get into a target-rich area, you're better served by getting more xp for your half-hour of sampling, then taking 5- 10 minutes to find another spot. 75-100 xp for yard trash, or 100 - 170 (ish) for the next tier. On Naboo it's not hard to find wild gualama and kaadu lairs within walking distance of each other, with "trash" lairs and hermit spiders not too far away too. Maybe the rate isn't that different, but it felt better to me. I'm not a big fan of guaranteed low xp at a constant rate - the monotony makes me feel like I'm wasting time.
Like I said, there's plenty of options to suit your style. Just thought I'd point out the one that worked for me.

And AS I SAID, it doesn't take 12 hours. It takes a maximum of 7 hours. And if you wanna don't wanna look up a BE that can teach you, get to a NPC BE trainer, pull out your droid and start grinding. It will cost you 140k to learn all skills from a NPC trainer (including the DNA sampling cost).

I dont want to get into a personal argument over it, I just dont see how your math adds up. To get to sampling II you need 40k sampling experience. To get to sampling IV you need 170k sampling experience. Assuming you could solidly sample yard trash back to back, it'd take 10s per sample at about 100 exp per sample, soabout 10 sampling exp per second - it'd still take over anhour to grind up to sampling II, and almost5 hours to grind to sampling IV, and again these are unrealistically liberal assumptions. Assuming about 5 seconds of downtime for every 10s sample (or 7 exp/second), which is still more generous than realistic, it brings it up to about 7 hours of solid grind time, leaving 5 to grind thecrafting trees and make it under 12h. Minimum, not maximum. In a realistic setting, grinding up sampling alone in 12h would be a stupefying feat for most =)
