The terminology is confusing, but the skill caps from stacking profession skills and the caps from equipment are different. The latter still exist.
The character window references the same thing as the skill window, which is why you see the incorrect information in both places. The limit is still +25 and the devs have acknowledged this several times since the CU.

That is why I specifically said equipment. Of course that just makes things more confusing as most people would read that as equipment plus food...

Their is a thread in the tailor forum indicating that you have to unequip then re-equip your weapon to get the BE clothes bonuses to work.
That does not change the overall conclusion of this thread, other than that they claim the BE mods are working and thus any tissues crafted dohave value.
The concept of dimmishing returns was stated by the devs at Fan Fest and they claimed they would fix the character sheet display. Who knows when that will happen.
