The lack of documentation or answers to simple questions makes me fear that the dev has moved on to other things and we cannot expect any significant fixes in the next couple of months. Though Talthazar is still MIA so it is possible, though not likely, that the dev wants to communicate with us but can't.

grelgen i think you have indirectly touched on what i believe to be the only 2 major issues with the cloning system right now.

first there isobviously something wrong withcleverness stat on dna from clones.all the talk goingback and forth about bugged pets and a broken systemis summed up right there -the only realunbalancing bug to the cloning system is the ability to sample from clones. the cleverness stat is always0, the dependability usually 1k+.it is this and only thisthat is creating the unbalanced non-ch pets. there is no buggeddna, recipies that are exploits etc etc. sampling from clones needs to either produce the old @dna or justbe disallowed entirely.

just as significant is the point about experimentation. actually this was also the case prepatch including the averaging but with the standardized clones it wasnt as clear to see. now we have a great deal of flexibility to what we create but in all cases it is poor copy of the originals. due to this the relativepower of our clones peaks around cl 50 and in some ways diminishes at higher levels. if it werent for all the drama about the multi-generation clones the issues of vulnerabilities and area effect attacks might be getting some attention.

having area effect specials translated into no special is a rather dramatic drop in power and cheapens a lot of the high level dna. what is a dune kimogila without its ae attacks? a pushover. some sort of substitution of even a single target attack would improve this dramatically. i can understand not wanting a proliferation of ae creatures but this undermines the high level clones too much with the limited options available.

the same goes for vulnerabilities overriding armor and resists. many of the high level creatures are designed with a vulnerability in mind for those encoutering them to take advantage of. unfortunately by mixing the stats of different creatures it is their weaknesses that rise to the top. admittedly this is easy enough to work around for pve pets but for pvp it really undermines the quality of the final clone.

as things stand the power of clones bears no resemblance to the wild creatures. non-ch pets are being made through clone sampling that are comparable to cl 45+ wild creatures and cl 60+ clones are clearly inferior to their wild counterparts. if you were to graph out the power of the wild pets the power rises further the higher the cl while with clones it is a fairly flat line across the entire spectrum. the solution to the lower level pets is simple. hopefully something can be done on the high end even if it would be just introducing a few new uncommon creatures to draw from.

/em gets off the soapbox

I've been here, just have yet to have anything to report beyond confirming that Keldarin talked to Zeath on TC.
