Oh, then there was my pre-patch kimo, on display in my Zoo (Tyrena -3144 -1466 for anybody on Kettemoor)...

ch-in-training: how much for the kimo in your shop?

me: you mean the display kimo against the far wall? - he's not for sale

ch-in-training: he has amazing stats

me: i know, he's a pre-patch kimo

ch-in-training: can i buy him from you?

me: no, he's not for sale - i'm not selling any of my pre-patch display models, as they're broken

ch-in-training: they're not broken

me: yes, they are - they all show up as CL 0, allowing you to call them with other high-level pets

ch-in-training: i know, i have one, i want another one

ch-in-training: i can give you a million credits

Sigh.

Slee'ak,

Heh, I've seen your pets my friend. Truly horrific beasts that can chill the blood. I'd like to get my hands on some of those notes you probably have floating around...

And I cannot believe the joker whom asked for a refund ! Heh. I think I'm gonna ask ya in game what the name is so I can avoid some aggravation.

Chridder,

Best suggestion I can make is this :

Spend one annoyingly long day gathering the DNA and resources necessary for basic lvl 9-10 BE pets, and craft alot of them. If you or a friend has a vendor, stick them all on there for 5-10k (or whatever you charge). Next time you get a special order/tell requesting a pet, simply direct them to the vendor and state thats what you have and what youmake. Chances are, they'll buy one. If they send anymore messages stating discontent or "I want it, I want it NOW !" messages, simply re-direct them to the product that is already produced, and kindly inform them that that is what they'll get... Unless they are willing to provide the meats and flora, and pay you a per-hour fee on top of the cost of the pet.

Kinda passive-agressive in a way, but like I said, chances are they'll buy a pet off the vendor, and you can be spared from tell-hell.

In any case, good luck, and hopefully this suggestion helps. The Email with the learning lesson is pretty awesome too, I might just plagerize that, haha.

Just laugh at their ignorance and pat them on their head. They hate that .

You know one thing that would solve a lot of our problems?

Certifications.

Adding a Certified: Yes/No flag to BE deeds, where non-certified pets couldn't be used would solve a hell of a lot of problems for those of us selling from vendors. Granted, it wouldn't erase the "I want an ubar pet coz I R L33T" tells, but it would certainly help.

The fact is, the game "knows" who can and can't use certain pets, so it wouldn't be a hardship to show this info on the deed...
