Forget about that method now that 11.5 is out....That little trick went the way of the do-do....

I guess I'll never collect milk again then unless its 400 cpu. What a waste of time.

I was worried about that.. I wondered if this would affect milking from corpses, but I didn't have a chance to check it on TC and didn't harvest any milk this morning after 11.5 went live. So, no more milk from corpses?

You get a lot more from milking them while they are alive anyway, don't you?

I think so... but it's so much quicker to just kill a herd and harvest it.

Heya Rangers, this has probably been covered before but I searched harvesting milk and there weren't many recent posts, so

What creatures drop the most milk? Have somebody needing a 50k stack so would like to find the quickest way to get there. Thanks for your help

A 50k stack of milk? I'm sorry, my brain just shorted out. I made my first million harvesting milk. I spent two days milking damn near every swirl prong on endor, and about 75% of them warped during the first try. It was an open-ended harvest (not a contract), but after collecting 15k units, I shut myself in the closet and rocked back and forth for a couple of hours. But hey, good luck with that.

Just a few days ago I did a 20k milkrun. I only accept milk deals if I can go after Pikets. I get buffed, head to Dant (the outpost in North) and get low credit Piket missions. The thing is to avoid Fierce Piket Protector missions due to the fact that in those nests over 80% of the critters are males i.e. no milk harvest. In the low credit missions practically all critters can be females. Experiment and you will find which ones are right. When properly handled, each Piket gives over 100milk.

Obiviously it is worth taking the missions to the same direction. Then I just go to the wp, milk everything in sight and kill all Pikets that were roaming around the nest. At this point I tap the nest once with UnarmedLunge and peace immediately. Then I do post mortem /harvest milk to the corpses lying around and get even more milk from the same critters. Remember to bring up your inventory afterevery few creatures, milk does not seem to stack properly but in the icon view you can stack them manually. By this time some new creatures have spawned and milking continues. Then killing, tapping the nest and post mortem milking till the nest is empty. When around 1/3rd of the health of the nest has gone down, I attack the nest and pound it till roughly 1/4th of the health is remaining and wait a while. If nothing spawns I tap a couple of times and again wait a bit. If nothing happens again, I kill the nest and head to the next one. Once you properly identify the intervals critters spawn based on the nest health, you can increase your nest handling speed dramatically.

With this method (MR, Trando, Vegash) I can harvest ~20k of milk in 3h buffperiod.

If I was going for speed milking, I wouldnt bother to "milk" the animal at all. Just massacre the entire lair, and /harvest milk, you can use hash to bump the haul as well. I'd say this was quicker than having to follow every piket in the galaxy just waiting for it to warp into the air so you have to start again.

Thanks everybody for posting, I had done a quick search on milking but I know/knew how, which has been covered in many threads, including the one from 3 days ago. Was hoping to find out the creatures that dropped the most. Unfortunately it is looking like the devs have "fixed" milking dead creatures so if I actually got to 50k (not likely) I would be locked in a closet and not playing swg for some time. So . . . all I could find on tat was some dune bantha's that dropped about 50 units, pikets drop 100 +/-. Haven't made it to endor yet, but that will be my next stop. Thanx again everyone

Neat
Brings me back to my previous question though, how much is milk worth?
Dont think i can be bothered squishing milk out of all those animals if its not worth the effort.

Of course different servers have different economies so the price will vary greatly depending where you are in the universe.

That being said, milk is quite the money spinner.

I'd say pitch it at 75, and be willing to haggle. I like a nice bit of haggling, shame buys seem to hve been tainted by the supermarket fixed price policy. Shopping would be more fun if you could go into the local Tesco/Walmart/Generic Shop and say "Well these potatoes are priced at £2, how about I give you £1.50 instead?" See, much more fun.

I've sold average-ish quality milk on the Bazaar for 20 cpu. But that was about a month and a half ago...

good luck

Milk doesn't require a ton of skill to harvest, but really requires a lot of time to get it in any decent quantity. Therefore, I see the price going up significantly with quantity. On my server, 20cpu for a small stack seems fair, but I would definitely tease the auction forums with a bigger stack (20k+ units.)
