Thread: Stealth mod to sampling?

A trick I use to get MR DNA is to look around for agroup of non-aggressive MOBs. I then mask and attempt to sample the MR. If it aggroes, I lure it over to the group of non-aggressive creatures. Quite often, the MR will change its interest to them, allowingme to wait for it to kill them, and start sampling immediately after. Kwis are my favorite MR bait for these situations.

Last night I logged on Dath knowing I'd be searching for MR's. The expectation on the number of samples collected sat around five for the evening. Well, I did a quick track and found a MR about 300m. I travelled over, got close, and received FIVE samples from that one MR. Not a single aggro. From there, I tracked two more nearby. I got two samples from the first, and three from the other. NINE samples off THREE MR's. I couldn't believe it. Now for a tangent break. I hadn't seen many surefoot brackasets lately. Examining it, I noticed its high stun resists. I thought, since sampling was easier, I combined the DNA of both:
MR MR
SB SB
MR
Used one point in experimentation and yielded lvl60. The next one yielded lvl71 with all ten points. The last attempt was seven points and yielded lvl69. No stats on my mind at the moment, for I'm at work. I think the HAM was 13/12/11 and 6% stun defense and 46% kinetic. I filled my backpack with the SB DNA in hopes in making a nice geo cave pet.
Back from the tangent break;
So, after some searching, I couldn't find amymore MR's around, so I logged as my main. Did some missions with that toon for a bit. When I decided to log for the night, a spur of the moment decision to log back as my BE toon hit my mind. As I was heading back to the outpost, I found another group of MR's. Five of them were there in their usual cluster. Neeless to say, I'd only been aggro'd about six times total, and yielded 29 samples from that group. It has been, by far, the largest number of samples from MR in a long long time. Luckily for me, I learned how to stay alive when dealing with MR's. Synthsteak is my friend.

Since my great success in getting MR DNA happened in two different times, do yall think the devs inproved our sampling mod in the last patch?

This issue comes up over and over again. About once every two weeks or so. Call me cynical but I really don't think the Devs have made any real changes to BE in quite awhile. The occasional astounding success or dismal failure of a sampling session is most likely just an issue of luck. My results can vary wildly from night to night. I feel sure that part of the variability in my own results is just how patient I am about the approch and sampling itself.

uhh ya I would say you got very very lucky. I tried about 2 to 3 times to sample kimogilias on lok and every time I got discovered. I don't know I guess i'm just horrid at sampling I got +40 maskscent and I got some clothing that says it does +68 to my mask scent ability. so i'm think 108.

Unless it was a Kimogilla Hatchiling you wouldnt be able to sample it anyway, and of that +68 from your clothing only +25 will have any effect.

Anyway, after I get home from work, I'm going to hit Dathomir and try sampling mutants again. Lets see if luck turns my way again. **crosses fingers** Okay, I'm greedy for more and more MR samples. It's all in the pursuit of knowledge!
