Don't let the title mislead you, however, I figure that there are some BE's out there who went through DNA sampling without pulling their hair out.
I would like to call on all of you to please share with me your DNA grind.
a) Macros used
b) Location most beneficial from Sampling I - Sampling IV
c) Your professional insite as how to best do this without going bald.
Really appreciate your feedback.

On sampling IIgo get samples from the arachnes on Endor, they give good xp (400-500) and have good stats/specials

I finally manage to register here!
Can't wait to share/discuss! right,'nuff said.
I heard someone say the sample grind could be made in 3 buffs. Maybe it can
I didn't find it tedious and maybe it can even be done easier. Here's what I did:
Method:
A)Sample macro:
/ui action targetSelf
/ui action cycleTargetOutward
/follow
/follow
/pause 5
/sampledna
/pause 11
/ui action toolbarSlot11
Locations:
sampling I+II: (relaxing, easy)
Buffs:Stamina buffs + dance/music buff (add brandy as seen fit) I wore armor sans helmet.
All around Keren Starport.
(Thereis an immense amount of low-level creatures here and no buffoons to catch in targetcycling. The critters give about 100exp a piece and are killed in 2-5 shots if aggroed (100-200dmg pistol). Onto the next sample
Basically at this location you can aim in a straight line along the outer wall and sit back for 15mins. you may need to adjust your direction to get targets in sight, but you will never run out of targets.
It takes a while longer than higher level donors, but you can relax the whole time. No downtime from fighting/running/searcing.
Sample III+IV: (fast, "safe")
Buffs: Full buffs+brandy (not a necessity. can be done in full armor and brandy+stamina)
Naboo, Faambas.
This one was a lucky punch. I happened to stumble upon a random Faamba lair with 4-5 adults. after clearing the spawn, I flew 500m away to respawn them... however I ran into a second faamba lair. Only 2 adults, but it gave me the time and distance for the others to respawn. Back and forth with only a few aggro-drawing samples. I finished sample IV in one buff. And while I sampled I collected milk and eggs.
I came out with 8k milk and 200 eggs during sample IV.
Ofcourse while collecting milk, you have to be present and alert. Faambas are huge and hard to stay within 5 meters of
Lot's of failed milkings, hehe.
Aw man, lol. Sorry for the long post. I'm just so eager to contribute now that I am able to post.
Hope it helps!

Silly, I can't figure out how to Edit. (can anyone hint it to me?)
Anyways, just wanted to add:
Obviously the macro goes into the F12 slot (/ui action toolbarSlot11)
Also, the Faambas give about 400xp/sampple if I recall correctly.
critters 100xp/sample (notapiece, ofcourse)

You can't edit, SWG disallows it at low forum ranks such as yourself. Fun eh? Not sure why.

My macro had a command to target the first member of my group and /follow it ...I'd pull a pet and tell it to stay before setting it running. One sample, then I killed the creature and harvested it. It wasn't fast, but I could go away and pay no attention, and I didn't drift unless I managed to get too far from the pet. Also, you can use the meat you pick up (not much, but every bit helps) in grinding.
Of course, beinga Master Pistoleer at the time helped, I was perfectly safe near Bestine without armour. Bestine is a fair place to sample, in behind the starport. The in-town hostiles don't get back there...

Didn't macro it (did it just a couple weeks ago). Sampling 1 I just sampled anything hanging around our city (mostly Rogue Bantha's and Desert Eopies) and it went in an hour or two. Sampling 2 I tried heading to Lok to sample Gurks, but the failure and aggro rates were massively high, so I went back to Tat and sampled a couple grizzled dewback lairs and whatever the wild boars are called. I'd just sample out the first two spawns from the lair then drive 300m out and back (acutally I usually got an aggro before both spawns and just ran the 300m out then).
Then once I hit sampling 3 it was two Gurk lairs 400m apart out of a player city. Milked those two lairs all the way to master in two nights of play. The player city part is important since player cities won't have the ring of death common around Nym's.
All in all it was boring, but not as bad as other grinds I've done.

Fambaas work well for near 400 exp. My BE on Chilastra can't afford the trips to Endor, so Naboo it is.

I just got DNA III and working on IV.
Recommendations on a safe fast place to get Sampling IV? I was going to do Picketts, but if you know of a better place let me know.

What I did was got a little obsessed. See, it's kind of an odd story, but I was originally going to be a weaponsmith, so I had master artisan. So there's a guy who offered to pay me a lot of cash to find a good spot of ore on Endor, since I have surveying 4 and am a master artisan and all that. He tells me to go get buffs, that I'm going to need them, but I don't really see the need for them, I have mask scent, and a landspeeder.
So I go around sampling things on Endor until I get a full inventory (like 40 samples or something, I wasn't wearing a pack)for 350-400+ exp each, and end up with something along the lines of 20k exp (maxed it out) and am still looking for a good surveying spot.
The technical side of things. 10000/350 (the amount sampling 1 costs over the amount of exp per creature) is about 28.6, so you need to harvest 29 creatures to get sampling 1. 30,000/350 is 85.7, so you need to sample 86 creatures for sampling 2. 50,000/350 is 142.9 so you need to sample 143 creatures for sampling 3. 80,000. Finally, 80000/350 is 228.6, so you will need to sample 229 creatures for sampling 4. These are maximum numbers based off of the assumption that you follow my guide.
What I do is make 'trips' where I go into the wild and fill up my inventory, then return home to Tatooine and deposit the good templates in my house/bank, and craft the bad ones. The pets again go into the house/bank. I make 'trips' to offplanet sites, where in any given trip I have 40 spaces in my backpack and 40 spaces in my invetory for a total of 80 spaces. Mostly I'm going to Lok now, and making sure to sample Gurks. Even at sampling 1, I could grab DNA from them, they give you something like 400 exp per. Even with the minimum numbers I gave you, it's one trip for sampling 1, a little over 1 for sampling 2 (consider leaving some more stuff at home to get the extra, or harvesting small creatures out of a spaceport or something afterwards), 2 trips for sampling 3, and 3 trips for sampling 4. Now going to Lok from Tatooine costs me about 1.7k rounded up per direction (flying out of Mos Eisley into Nym's Stronghold). at 3.4k per trip, you have 3.4(1+2+2+3) = 27.2k to do this run. The other thing to realize is that you get decent DNA from this, and while there doesn't seem to be much of a market for pets on my server, I can easily make 5k HAM 40% kinetic resist pets even with cloning 0 and one experimentation point with that DNA. Now if I want to make a few less trips, I'll craft on site (on the planet near a crafting station or at the droid that I have being made). However, since the DNA is pretty good, I don't like throwing it away, even with pets in practice mode. If you don't mind doing that, you can make far less trips though, since all you do is sample and drop, or sample, craft, and drop. I get around 80 crafting exp per template I make, and I remember about 200 exp per creature I crafted (dewbacks near a crafting station comes to mind, around 100 exp for swirl prongs).
Now as to what to sample. I reccomend sampling Gurks on Lok, as well as snorbals (or whatever those elephant looking things are) don't bother with the gurk whelps or anything under mature for the snorbals. Now this is important. If your scent is masked, you can milk the snorbals. Since cloning doesn't appear to be quality dependant but requires creature resources, I reccomend harvesting the milk before sampling the DNA. There is something else (the name eludes me)on Lok which has milk, but I wouldn't bother with them because they waste time (the DNA gives you less exp, which is ok, but I prefer the higher quality DNA). The milk means that suddenly, to make clones (which can give you some good exp) all you need is flora. For each creature, sample until they die, have some kind of transportation ready in case they aggro (although the point of these creatures is that it's hard for them to do so.) Now there's a couple of other important points to make as well. None of those creatures will deathblow you, so if you get incapped, just take it, get back up, and keep sampling. Once you get incapped the second time, sit down, make a camp, and wait a little while, then go back and sample more. Assuming you have masked scent (which you should) you can do this without too much trouble.
Now remember, the more powerful something is, the harder it will be to sample, but also the more you will get from it. I have not seen one case where I couldn't sample from a creature, except for something like a greater dune kimogila which killed me the one time I tried before I could even get close. Try to go for the more powerful things, as they'll give you closer to 400 than 350 exp. I like Feral Gurks and Gurk Gatherers, as well as Elder Snorbal Females (for the all important milk), although Mature Snorbal Females and Gurk Gatherers/regular Gurks are fine too. Don't bother with the whelps or the snorbal calfs, but you can get milk from the calves, and they usually are located near to females. For convenience, wait until they lie down, that should give you enough time. And always make sure masked scent is on. I can't stress this enough. If your mask scent goes down, bring it back up.
For Endor I don't remember much of what I sampled, Bolle Bols mostly, with some of the more violent creatures mixed in. Where you go depends on where you are starting from. There is the Endor/Lok question. Endor has more exp, but costs a lot more to get there, especially if you have to make two jumps from your home to get there. I haven't noticed a cap on what I could sample, even before sampling 4. The bigger and more powerful that the creature is, the harder it will be to sample, but you should be able to sample them anyway. It will be less successful, but the time you spend sampling those smaller creatures for the same amount of exp will be longer on average than the time it takes you to sample that one. I find that sometimes one creature doesn't want to sample. If that's the case with you, go sample a different creature around that lair. Regardless of what you do, assuming you have a fast speeder and mask scent and are smart, you shouldn't need buffs. If something attacks you, you run. Get into the speeder and take off. Keep going until it stops bothering you, then turn around and come back, and sample the creature again. Don't try to kill the creatures, and don't mess with the creatures which will deathblow you, and you'll get more than enough exp.
Hope some of that helps, and good luck with the grind.

Finally, 80000/350 is 228.6, so you will need to sample 229 creatures for sampling 4. These are maximum numbers based off of the assumption that you follow my guide.

That post by Egsal42 was cool. He left out on thing. You can get gurk missions. They pay 8k each. That will defray the cost of travelling back and forth to your home planet (assuming it's not Lok). As a side benefit you get a WP to the gurks =)
Oh yeah, and Egsal42, you might want to save that milk.
