Now that these are available, has anyone been able to make any +5 melee defense tissues?

No. The problem isnt that no one has been able to collect the best resources available, the problem is resources good enough for this have never existed. And never will, AFAIK you need 1000 on every stat to get this.

why is it then that various posts in this forum claim to have made them?

A quick search for "+5 melee def" returns no results of people claiming to have made +5, just a lot of threads with people asking if its possible, or people saying this is a theoretical max.
One even goes so far as to say that +4/+19 is the highest known Melee/Stun.

Well poeple in the thread below say they have crafted +5s and are talking about crafting +6s...

very true, but its more than one person saying it, has anyone actually crafted any recently?

I definately think it's possible, especially now with the 30k resource thing. Just think of looking through all the types of hide for each planet that has ever spawned.. There has got to be something with OQ in the upper 900's. Same thing with bone.. I think it's very possible.. Too bad we had to take 30k of one resource and not 30k total.. It would be nice to take 15k egg and 15k scaley hide or some other combination like that...

A month or so back there was someone claiming to have made Brandy with "secret research data" and produced a screenshot as well. Of course, he covered up the serial number so CSRs couldn't actually look at the item to verify it. Devs called BS on it.
The thread you pointed to had someone promising to post what they used, they didn't. There were no screenshots (with or without SN) and there hasn't been another post in a year.
I've made some +4/+18 and that bar went about as far as it could with just a little bit to go. Based on that, I'll stay with the opinion that +5 is the max and is unreachable without PERFECT (OQ 1000, PE 1000, FL 1000) components, which don't exist and likely never will.

Well, on segcraft.com I can see bones and meat on Bria that have an oq of 1000, would that do it?

Only if PE and FL are also 1000. OQ accounts for only 1/2 of the equation.

Why are you so hellbent on +5 tissues anyway? Just accept they're academic, +4 is the practical max for melee defense. If you need the extra +5 you'd get from having 5 +5 tissues over 5 +4 tissues just buy an SEA
