Actually Gully, it's possible that the skin _may_ effect ranged attacks, but I assure you they can "stick" in a razor cat skin.

My CL20, AR1, 45% kinetic, 9.5K/6.5K/4K razor cat has ranged attacks.

How'd that whole PyrE thing work out anyway?

Hi Lens,

I've been trying to get a LvL 20 cat like yours for a a while but can never get high enough kinetic resists and armour. Any chance you could share your recipie?

My two favorite cat skins are the Kima and Bearded Jax. As far as level goes, the only limit on level is the minimum level of a skin. I could make a Kima with Mutant/Enraged Rancor DNA that would probably be around CL60.

There never used to any chance I'd share my recipe...but given that I've surrendered BE in my endless chase for the mythical "Force Sensitive Character Slot"...sure!

It's all from delerious merek avenger DNA.

Use five samples, experiment up just enough to get armor to reappear (fortitude 500+). You'll most likely need several clones like this to provide the raw materials for the next generation.

Sample the clones (probably to death).

Use five of the clone samples, experiment to get the armor to stick and stop. The end result should be CL23-ish.

Repeat, you'll get a 20-ish. Repeat again, 17-ish. That's as far as I've taken it.

Two notes:

1) If the stats start getting wonky, you can use a fresh DMA DNA sample in the first slot, and clone samples in the others. This will provide a little normalization.

2) I haven't tried making a sub-20 one of these for a while, so it's possible that it got nerfed in one of the recent patches.

This basic method can be used for getting almost any critter "down-levelled" while keeping all resists and specials intact (usually). Most of the CL drop occurs in attack/damage numbers and to a lesser degree Mind and even lesser degree Action.

Now, if someone asks very, very nicely, I'll include my recipe for CL26-32 AR1, 60% kinetic, good HAM, special combo (stun/intim, cripple/intim, KD/dizzy) critters. I call them "krayt baiters".

Ok then I may not be just freaking out. I made a lvl 16 poisonous kaadu. He was standing right next to me, and I told him to attack something (durni) about 40m away. Just as he did his little "preparing to attack" battle move, the enemy durni took damage and I got the combat message that showed the kaadu doing damage to it.

Two things could have happened:

1) I lagged and the kaadu was already there attacking the durni and my screen just didn't update yet.

or

2) this kaadu had a ranged attack like the DNA template said it would. Kaadus don't normally have a ranged attack do they?

Is it possible to clone a Great Plains Stalker or a Greater Sludge Panther? I highly doubt it is, so...

If not...

What is the best (and highest lvl) Cat like a Gurreck/Razor Cat/Wrix that can be made?

I'm a CH and love the cats, right now my highest is a lvl 45 Razor Cat, can that be beaten?

Any skin (creature) that a BE can make can be made up to CL70. (well actually higher... but then no one can tame it) There is a list of BE skins up top in the BE FAQ thread. Talthazars BE website is also a great resource.

The way the cloning process works is that you make a generic template, and then put it in your chosen skin. Abilities, including lvl,are dependant on the template rather than the skin (although the skin controls the movement speed of the critter, whether it has a ranged attack and some skins can't be used by non-CH).

The Razor Cat skin is the one used for GPS/GSP- and it's very popular due to its speed .

Given the cloning process you can make darn near anything and put it in the Razor Cat skin (although ranged attacks won't "stick") - level wise they can be anything. My current "uber cat" is lvl 70 - AR1, no vulnerabilities, but no specials either so I'm still working on them.

Same goes for the other skins (I also have a lvl 65 Durni........)

No, range attack is not a factory option for a kaadu

However, BE-made kaadus can have them. My razor cat occasionally busts his out. Which is unfortunate most of the time because I want him to tank by going to the target, not bringing the target to me. Made levelling my rifle a little more difficult.

Any animal can have a ranged attack. The skin has never effected an animal I've made regarding ranged. I have an eopie that spits. Eopies don't have ranged in the wild. I have a kaadu that spits. Again they don't have ranged in the wild. I made a bantha my guild mate rideswith ranged and strong poison. Wilds have neither.

A master creature handler can toggle ranged on and off which is a nice feature

All the stats are driven by the template. Attributes like speed and aggression are driven by the skin.

I concur. I have a CL61 razor cat with ranged attack, and it often gets in fire fights with NPCs. It's odd to watch. They generally end up 20-40m apart dueling it out. There is no graphic of the cat's shots, but I can see the damage flags popping out the top of the NPC's heads, and they eventually die. I am not sure if special attacks at range are working right, though. I will have to try that out to see. I generally prefer my pets with no ranged attacks. They make better tanks that way.

Alrighty - I was wrong about the ranged attacks! (Glad I mentioned it though since I unlearnt some misinformation )

Does the aggro thing for non-CH pets hold though? (i.e A non-CH angler is not possible since the aggro/ferocity stops the tame - that's assuming you can get angler skins less than 10, which I can't remember off the top of my head!)

The last information I have is that you are correct. No angler, narglatch, etc NCH pets.
