Seems kinda odd that a profession that helps out chef so much doesn't get the same in return.

I'm currently grinding through DNA sampling, and was wondering if anyone knows of any chef food that helps with frequency of success, or less aggression from creatures. So far I've narrowed down the foods that would help to there:

Jawa Beer - Mask Scent bonus

Travel biscuits- Terrain Negotiation (I use my bike 99% of the time)

Now here's the questionable ones:

Bespin Port can be handy too. Makes experimentation more succesful.

Brandy for you mind. Jawa beer to mask scent. Chefs can indeed be a huge asset for a BE.

While the p.cake is good for pets, bespin port doesn't work when making DNA templates but it great when making tissues or additives especially when you're using the really good resources.

meh, when making BSN schems I usually had 1 point left over tbh. only time i used bespin port was when i was using rare dna, e.g. MR.

Taming bonus: acts as a bonus to a CH's success when taming a creature. AFAIK, this has no bearing on DNA sampling.

Creature harvesting: gives a bonus to the number of resources gathered by a scout /harvesting hide/bone/meat from a slain creature. Again, AFAIK, this doesn't apply to DNA (although I'm perfectly ok with being proven wrong).

Ormachek: From my experience, this gives a 4 or 5% bonus (depending on quality) to any xp that shows up as a system message. Crafting xp doesn't, so it won't help you gain creature crafting xp any faster. I haven't done BE, so I don't know from first-hand experience how DNA sampling xp is displayed, or if the gain per sample is high enough for Ormachek to really matter. It works best with large xp gains, it seems especially popular with pilots grinding on Tier5 mobs. Although on the other hand, even if you get 100 or so sampling xp per attempt, being under the influence of Ormachek makes it so that for every 20-25 gains, you get one "free". The filling is pretty high on this, though, so depending on how long it takes to use up the 15-18 xp gains you probably can't be under its influence 100% of the time.

And of course, there's the stat buff foods. Does DNA sampling itself use any health, action, or mind? Or do you only have to worry about that if you tick off the creature you're poking with a needle?

There are a couple incap reduction items: Starshine Surprise (roughly 50% reduction) or Cavaellian Creams (70-99% reduction, 100% or greater is possible but bugged) can pop you back up quicker. Although unless the creature has un-aggroed, you have to get off a heal pretty quick or you're going back down again.

Jawa Beer andTravel Biscuits are both Artisan foods, so unless a chef has taken the engineering tree in Artisan (for the extra general crafting experimentation)in addition to the Dom Arts chef pre-requisites, a dedicated Artisan can make better ones. Just don't forget to supply them with some Micronutrients for that added boost.

I haven't tried to use bespin port while crafting DNA templates....I say a post here a long time ago saying it doesn't work since the way DNA is experimented on is so different than the normal crafting the system doesn't "see" the benifits of the bp.

yeah, I normally have extra points when crafting chef additives except when I'm using uber organics, then if I only get "great successes" I'll run out of experiment points. Bespin Port helps ensure I don't waste resources if I can't cap the experimentation.
