Thread: Would you interfere?
I just saw that someone is offering a fairly uber non-CH pet for auction here
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=radiant_trade&message.id=13622
There's no mention that it might be nerfed soon.Would youinform the bidders that the pet might be nerfed? On one hand it's none of my business, but on the other hand, it's a little galling to see follow BEs push out this kind of clone with no warning.

I'llwarned the bidders. I'll alsobe sure to tell them that such a change hasn't been personally confirmed by the developers, but is highly expected
While I believe the DNA should be removed, I also believe in 100% honesty, especially when it comes to someone else's business ventures.
Ok, I'm not a BE, but I have seen CL8 pets that are better than this one.
Is there a chance that these will be nerfed up to a much higher CL?
I left a warning in one of those threads once. a warning that the pet could be nerfed and either diassapear or have its CL raised. It didn't really do any good, think it might have made people want it more.
The only thing these pets are doing is hurting the profession's economyand its the greedy Bio's doing it. You don't even have to be master to make these pets. I'm getting sick of requests for these pets its hurting my business. I have a Lv. 51 Razor cat w/ AR1 and 12k ham. That people wont buy because the've seen level 0 rancors or CL 8 pets with the same stats and thats seems to be what every one wants.
Sure i guess i could just fill my vendor with CL 10 and under super pets and be rich beyond my dreams. But the love for this profession outwieghs my greed for money.
I thought people would relize if these pets were supposed to be. and are not a exploit or glitch. Then that would mean the end of the CH profession. Why spend the points in CH when you can have a 10k Ham pet with Ar1 and good specials and resists. Well thats just my 2 scents.

I think that is my auction - I didn't look at the thread you posted, but I am pretty sure it is mine. Why can't I sell that pet? Someone posted that it may be nerfed, the people didn't care - so why not sell it? How is that against the BE profession? Don't you all strive to make the coolest pets you can? The ones that will be fun to use? The ones that will please your customers? That's what I did. Period. I have been making the best pets I can, and people want them. What's the use in making crappy pets when you can make good ones? I don't understand.
I don't think these pets will be destroyed primarily because I don't see how they can be tracked. I mean, will they take away all pets made with certain DNA? Well, what if someone made a crappy pet using the same DNA as I did to make this good one? Will that pet be destroyed? Will they destroy all level 10 pets with Health above 7K or with resists above 10%? It will be hard for them to figure all that out and pinpoint those pets.
I'm not greedy, I'm just trying to make good pets. I had no idea people would be so crazy as to bid 1mil for the stupid thing. I was expecting maybe 200K or something -max. Anyway, go ahead and flame me - but I enjoy being a BE and I enjoy making pets. So sue me.

They may not need to track down what pets are made from what DNA. They could just have all pets recalculate their appropriate CL whenever they are called for the first time after the patch. All of a sudden that CL8 pet is a CL25 pet and the non-Ch can't call it.

That's what I suspect will happen.
I don't want to flame you. Yes you should be proud to make the very best pets you can. The problem doesn't lie in you but a bug.
Imagine for a sec that a novice weapon smith found out a way to make a Flame Thrower that was more powerfull than the original and that any class could use even entertainers. So you would have tons of entertainers running around with ubber flame throwers.
Now do you think it would be right to sell these even fully knowing these people shouldn't be running around with them.
The same applies to these Powerfull CH pets running around in the hands of Non-CH. Devs droped the CL class for a reason. If you want powerful pets or tanks become a CH.
Selling these things is and Ethics question. Do what you feel is right. Just ask yourself:
Should non master be making pets selling for over 1 mil?
Is it fair to the CH class? They worked hard to control powerfull pets?
Will it hurt the BE community and Economy selling them? Your making a demand for a particular type of pet causing other non bugged pets to seem weak and therefor not selling.
Do you want to be part of the problem or part of the solution?
So the desician is ultimately yours. Do what you feel is right and look at it from another point of view such as the CH.

Actually, I don't think it's a bug. I think certain DNA combinations will give certain stats and certain CLs - period. Why shouldn't you be able to combine and experiment to come up with something really good?
Because the devs purposely lowered non-CH pet CLs from 15-10 for a reason. They have said that they intended non-CH pets to be mounts or RP pets only. They don't want them to tank and have said so.
Also, they spread out the pet control levels throughout the CH tree last patch to "prevent" people from controlling CL 35 pets with few SP invested.
"Coming up with something really good" as you put it flies in the face of their previous statements and actions. If they took CL 35 pets away from the CH dabblers, it doesn't make sense that they would intentionally give CL35 equivilant pets to players with no CH skill at all.

I've decided to just not sell non-CH pets to avoid the whole situation and not be a hypocrite.I still don't understand why they are even allowing non-CH to have pets. It makes no sense at all. Let them use droids instead and give a boost to the DE market.
As of a few days ago I don't even have DNA in storage that I can use to make those pets. I don't need that business and I don't want to be associated with making bugged creatures. I get enough business as it is and have more money than I know what to do with.
Thatspecific creaturefor 1 million credits is a ripoff though if ya ask me.
