Thread: How has DNA changed (TC question)

Just a quick question for those of you on TC. Has the DNA samples we collect changed at all. I mean, with the current system, all we really needed to know was the HAM attributes and agression cause the creature already had pre-determined resitances, armor...etc. Well now under the new system we are supposedly able to control all of these factors when creating a pet. So has the DNA we collect been changed to reflect the fact that we need more information or do we need to memorize (or print) every creatures CL, resists, armor, type of attack..etc.

according to talth, the only difference is that the numbers are scaled baased on the creature's level.

It was already that way, the DNA just didn't say it right out. I'm only 1-1-1-0 BE, but when I made a kaadu from Razor Cat DNA, Health stats were 60 points better than those made from vynock and other weaker creatures. And that's under the live system.

Actually the point differences on test are different by several hundred points not just sixty, and I actually got negative numbers on fortitude. (Novice BE, junk DNA) I compared samples taken before and after the patch. Still I wouldn't worry too much about it until the whole system goes in. We don't know for certain that the DNA won't show other stats. Of course, we don't know that it will either...

They just patched TC and there was no mention of the cloning system being broken (or fixed) in the patch notes. I have two questions:

1. Do they know that it doesn't work?

2. Is anyone else starting to get nervous?

The problem is, if the DNA just lists the original ten sets of numbers, but doesn't list DL, doesn't list resists, doesn't list special attacks, etc...
It's not going to be very easy to sort your dna AFTER you've harvested it, so you can combine it correctly into the chosen form.

brena, the difference is that now the numbers are scaled to CL on the actual DNA. its common knowledge that higher lvl DNA produces better results.

I am a MBE/MCH but NOT a master scout, How am i going to know what level creature i create on the new system without taming it, and having a Master scout examine it? How are people purchasing deeds going to know what they are buying? Are there any changes to the information displayed when you examine a pet deed, or "house" pet?

How? Become attactched to a scout or a Ranger. So we not self dependent on getting stuff. They have the skills. Ord become one yourself. That is the choices on how you gonna know levels.

Tymora, I deal with this issue daily. I do a few things to obtain CL's.

1. Con the Creatures. You know the level you are projecting when you do missions based on a certain gun equipped and the pet that is in your group. Learn what CL you are also when the gun is unequipped... If the pet leaves the group and different combinations. By Con, I meat the star above their head. I am a 32, so if they con "white", or hopefully yellow, I can make any of the pets Bol on down without compromise. If they are white, I can make the CL 25 on down saftely. If they are dark blue, I can saftely make dewbacks on down. This is with Graul Mauler in group and pistol equipped.

2. Know a Ranger. I live an Theed, so I might say to a Ranger I know. "Can you get the CL's if the Spineflaps". He will, no biggie. He will give me the CL's for like 5 or 6 different ones. This is needed if you are sampling for like good kaadu's. where the level is vastly different. He also got me the CL's on Rancors, since they are all red and vary vastly in CL from like 45 to 70 plus.

3. Ask around town. If you see a guy with a Gaping Spider Hunter, ask him the CL, but check the ham first to see that it is full grown.

And write this stuff down. I broke down and bought a 3 hole punch and a notebook for this stuff.

Hope this helped.

I guess I'll have to wait and see when they fix the BE update on test center.

I had assumed we would have more flexibility on creating different levels of creatures. Finding the creature level of a wild creature isnt any big deal. My concern is knowing the level of the creature i am making.

IF the lvl of dna sampled is the ONLY factor in determining the lvl of what i create, then CL 10 dna would result in a CL 10 clone. This would also mean, sampling from a creature higher than lvl 70 would be a total waist of time, since the dna would net a creature too high of lvl to tame.

I had hoped we would be able to experiment to raise the lvl of the clones. Using Lvl 10 dna, best resources and experimenting to make CL 12 clone, or even Using CL 50 dna and crit failing on experimenting resulting in a lower level clone.

With the new CH changes i will assume there will be a big demand for cl/12 clones. lvl 12, 24, 36, etc. How would ANYONE buying a pet deed really know what lvl creature they are buying.

I don't care that i can't see the creature level of any tamed or wild creature. BUT CL needs to be displayed on Pet deeds.

Actually under the new CL ratin system you can look at the HAM for the critters and get a rough idea of their CL rating so you don't need to be a master scout as long as you understand how to read their health points.
