Thread: Strategies on Finding meat.
Hello all,
I'm pretty new to the BE profession. I've got Tissues3 and Sampling1.
I was wondering if you guys have any tips on finding meat in quantity. I've got some scout skills, and I'm a novice Carbineer, so combat isn't something I'm just the best at.
I've already tapped my PA for all the meat they have, but I need considerably more to continue going up in skill. How do you all manage it? Do you just go to adventure planets and try to get into groups so you can harvest? Do you buy the meat?
I've searched the bazaar on my server (chalistra) and I just can't seem to find meat for a reasonable price. I'm willing to pay 3cpu but I simply can't afford to pay 10cpu for grinding resources.
Any advice?

My secret for finding grindable meat quantities: Kimo hunting.
Takes a group of about 5 midlevel CH, a commando, a medic, and some other riders for happiness sake, climb the volcano and harvest to your heart's content. In general depending on the type of kimo you kill, you'll get between 200 and 700 meat per harvest. An evening of those and you'll be set for days!
... you'll also get a mess of combat experience like 2-3k carbine exp per kill on some of the bigger ones (giant dune kimo etc).

PS: They spawn on Lok.
Wow, thanks for the idea.
Is it pretty easy to find kimo hunt groups? I find that I generally detest Lok, but I'm willin to grit my teeth and bear it for those kinds of numbers.

The last few I went on were invite-only. You'll have to check out the scene on your server to see if anyone's actively recruiting for such a hunt at the Lok Starport.
For something a little more solo-able, you could try snorbals, also native to lok. Not nearly as much meat per kill, but it adds up fast because snorbs are very plentiful.
I've never hunted tortons or rancor but I'd presume they drop about the same ammount of meat, the climate on talus is certainly friendlier for hunting tortons... rancor hunting on Dathomir isn't something you hear about much, probably because they're such a rare spawn.
Anyhoo... hope that helps.

If I'm in a group, I find the best way to get meat is to go to Dantooine and hunt big herbivores (Pickets, Bols). But really, any high level planet killing large things will do Dantooine is just nice because it's relatively safe compared to, say, Lok. The only trouble with it is that my group's hunting schedule is usually full getting herbivore and avian meat for our doctor, which is far more important than getting grinding material for me.
Which brings me to my second idea. When I'm solo, I find that Tatooine is the best place to hunt. Despite being a desert, the spawns are actually pretty thick as long as you stay withing 3km of a town. At your level, womp rats are probably the best things to hunt. Get a couple missions in the same direction (or nearby like NW and N or something). Go out and kill your lairs. But your missions are just an excuse to take a walk - the real thing your looking for is wild "garbage" piles. These are non-mission spawns, and they can have some insane numbers of creatures popping out of them. In fact, you'll need to be somewhat careful to avoid getting swarmed to death (fight wellaway from the lair so new ones popping out don't attack you automatically).
It's still kind of slow. I've done much better with wild Mountain Worrt lairs, but I'm not sure that will work as a novice Carbineer.
The important distinction here is that mission lairs have names like "A mountain worrt lair" and usually have only 2 or 3 critters per spawn (times three total spawns for a total of 6-9 critters per lair). Wild lairs have more generic names like "A pile of bones" or "a dead log" and can have anywhere from 1 critter per spawn (times 3 total spawns) to as many as 10 (maybe more) critters per spawn. My group and I once pulled 4K meat from a single wild Seething Bol lair on Dant. Non-mission lairs are definitely the way to go if you're more interested in meat than credits.

Since most people go Krayt hunting for the tissues and not the meat, you should not have a very hard time finding group members if all you are after is the meat
Thanks much guys.I appreciate the advice. I'm finding it difficult to get meat en masse. There's no way I could take bols or huurtons at this stage in my combat career. I think I will give Tatooine a try, that sounds do able. I've noticed there does seem to be quite a bit of "trash" around cities. Plus, I could possibly join in a kryat hunt for some big payouts of meat.
*sigh* I wouldn't mind buying the meat either, its just very difficult to find quanities of junk meat for sale.
They really need to send some love to the BE's about this. Meat is by far the hardest resource to find.
