In my expirence if a pet has a ranged attack it'll use that untill the enemy gets in range of its melee attacks. This can get a bit tedious as the enemy will attack you if your closer...

Since publish 6 (which appears to have been defacto the stealth CH nerf from hell) creature pets with ranged attacks don't use them, even on their own.

Well, that's one way to fix the problem of ranged attacks not working- get rid ofranged attacksand the problem goes away

Looking to make some ranged pets... Is there a trick to this? Can anyone Give any pointers? I'm guessing that all I need to do is to sample dna from a ranged critter and that will make my pet ranged too... Is this correct? Do I use one sample or all five when making the pet in order for the ranged ability to stick. Finally, what are some good ranged animals to sample from?

To my knowledge, bio-e'd pets post cu cannot have ranged attack. I think this is considered a special attack/ability and all of them are 'broken' at present. If anyone knows differently, please feel free to correct this info.

We can still make pets that have a ranged attack...but...heres the catch. The ranged/melee toggle is broken so effectively you are not able to command your pet to use a ranged attack. Feel free to /bug it on a daily basis as well as broken pet specials.

Ahhh...so ranged IS possible....so, then, I have the same question.... How does one give the template a ranged attack? Do all samples used have to have the Ranged=Yes stat or just a specific slot in the template?

Actually, publish 18, ranged dissapeared from creature samples, i've not found it on any sample i have taken since then, but it is supposedly back in samples on TC atm.

Are you sure of this? Many of my CL 10 pets come out with ranged attacks as I often use capper spineflap DNA. Im (almost) 100% positive that this is all recently extracted DNA in the combines.

That's really rather strange, as i've not had any dna with range on and others have reported range missing too, wat server are you on? could this be a server related issue?

Oh hell, I just tried using all fresh DNA and guess what...no ranged. I must have been using old stocks of DNA. Now if you will all excuse me im gonna go crawl back under my rock.
