Thread: Shall we steal NiTech's idea and make training missions for new BE's?

Have to admit it is rather a good idea. We could have a series of missions and tests and at the end of it, they have to pass a board of people questioning them about all things BE and maybe a practical crafting exam. After which they'd be allowed to use the BEta certified label in advertisements etc.
Question one: how much should I sell this rather good but ordinary level 68 pet for.
Answer: 1 million credits because it must have taken you about 3 hours to collect the DNA for it.
No but seriously - it might be rather fun. Are there any old-hand BE's who'd like to help with this? Any new ones that would like to pilot it?
Lemme know?

b b b but i woudld never get into BEta then !!!!! <cry>
I thought the going price was 10mil for a near level 70 pet with somewhat better than average stats![]()
Nutz! I'll never get the hang of this.
Kao ... ha!
(and huggles but you are too lovely to be feeling sad and lonely and pathetic so i think you are taking the micky)
CombatT - these are good points - the way I envision this working is that the 'older' BE's will come up with a point that they wish to illustrate - for example - how to make a nonCH pet and will design the mission around it.
Anyone who wanted to do that mission would be sent mail with instructions and assigned a 'tutor' someone they could ask about any part of that mission (we can do cross-server chat and mail). In order to complete, you would need to demonstrate that you understood the point of what you were doing ...being able to followa recipe is not enough - we need to understand how and why to be good BE's (and take notes).
You'd be able to complete it at your own speed of course. Sorry this is still a very flegling idea. Nobody has to put the name 'BEta' on anything and it's not restricted to BEta members to make the missions! It was just a name that was convienient ...
Yesterday, someone PM'd me who was a mid-level CH. He wanted a level 40 kimogilia made. I talked to him and figured out that he could in fact use up to level 45 and that he would really rather have a level 45. I then went off and made him the best kimogilia I could (after warning him it might not be exactly level 45) and came up with a level 44 with 8400 health and 260 max damage. I am not sure of its' other stats... the point is, I used all the knowledge that I had gained from these boards to make it and I was ever so pleased, especially because I got it right on the first attempt. In fact, I could tell you the method I used for each step and put in parenthesis the person's name on these forums I learned it from lol (Lammergeier, Cin, Kivrin, OfficerDibble, Sumorex and Mirrl of course, me ...).
I think the hardest part of being a BE is when a CH wants a certain level animal that you don't have a stock recipe for yet, and they want it pretty soon. It used to be WAY harder than it is now of course, but it is still not the easiest thing in the world. THAT's the level of knowledge that I'd like everyone who does our training misions to reach ultimately - to be given any level of creature to craft - and know how to approach it and how to get the best animal for the user's needs.
Dor - who is still learning ....

That's the fun part. ![]()
Yes definately and I actually went to be soooo happy that i did it b/c I wasn't sure i was going to be able to
Pre-CU I really was more interested in non-CH pets and was only starting to figure out the CH pets making when they changed everything. I *think* I was starting to be able to make good CH pets then tho ...
Dor - who isn't QUITE as experienced as people think --- yet!
I can't really help much on the current pet craft in detail as Im semi retired and don't do it anymore, but Im sure you have some task a poor old BE can do
Im sure the basics are the same tho...
I relish the thought of getting to work with you. So if you need a retired BE as some kind of secondary undersecretary to the second assistant phone monkey, lemme know.

LOL! I wasn't THAT good tbh...I just took widely available recipes and improved on them...the really good guys were the guys who came up with the recipes to start with
(I also have a lot to thank Zadokk for...)
