Ok.. I was reading somewhere that the entertainers get to make the cantinas and some other profession gets to make something else.... Why didnt we get to make the cloning facilites??? Isnt that what we do... Clone??? Just a thought I had last night trying to get cloning 4 and then realizing that we are never really going to be part of anything exciting in the universe, aside from the mount release.... lol... Anyway... does anyone know why we arnt included?? I can understand the combat professions not getting in on it because they are the garrison force.... But why not us??

To be fair, there is a clear link between doctors and med centers and entertainers and cantinas. They work in those places. BE's have nothing to do with player cloning and therefore there is really no clear lnk between BE's and cloning centers except that the word cloning is in there. I have to admit, until someone mentioned it after player cities came out, the thought never entered my mind that we might have something to do with it.

That's a pretty weak excuse Tal and you know it. Bio-engineers are the ONLY profession to even get involved in cloning of any kind so it would have been nice to be included with player cities. It's not as if an entertainer is needed to place a theatre or a cantina, since when did they gain the ability to run a venue. If anything a merchant should be needed for a cantina. As for theatres well there's no need again for an entertainer to get involved since they aren't technically capable of running an establishment.

Ergo a bio-engineer should be needed to place a cloning facility.

Yeah and entertainers dance or play music, running a club doesn't fall under their skills however owning a venue with the ability to place door fees falls under merchant and artisan bussiness skills.

this would be good enough explanation to me if Chef's couldnt also place cantinas. that was my "ok w t h?"

thers no reason BE's shouldnt be involved with cloning centers and i would like some kind of official explanation as to why we were left out of this.

Actually SirVimes campaigned pretty heavily for letting Chefs place cantinas.. They couldn't when the places went to TC. Sinostri campaigned for the protocol droid to be put in shuttleport schematic.

The honest fact is, nobody thought of it, and at the time your last Corre was AWOL.

There will be a very limited market for any player city buildings on any particular server. Cloning stations (and shuttleports) are also public buildings (anyone can use), while cantinas and hospitals are privately owned and actually belong to the people placing them, who can restrict access.

I doubt te devs would ever allow privately owned clone centers. So even if you could craft them (which I don't think you want to take from archetects, or even make a case for). The mayor woiuld still have to place them anyway, becvause they belong to the city.

If someone had thought of it, the best you would have gotten was probably a component to add to the schematic (like DEs and shuttleports).

Not a weak excuse at all, Tal-N. When has a Bio-Engineer ever had anything to do with a cloning center other than it saving our butts when a sampling session goes awry? We've never cloned players. Hospitals and Cantinas are commercial structures, players of the appropriate professions can run a business out of them... how in the world would a Bio-Engineer run a business out of a player-reviving station? The only argument I can see for us being involved in a Cloning center would be a component an Architect would need for us to make the deed (a la what Traigus said about proto droids and shuttleports), and even then we have nothing in our schematic options that relate to player cloning.

Its just no fun Not having a part of city growth in town, other than being a citizen..... I have to admit I first chose this career after my holocron told me to do it... But it has grown on me and I am having a blast... Also its not that much diffrent cloning a person and an animal. Look at monkeys and humans. We share something like 90% of the same DNA. I am not saying that cloning a human is easy becausemost places its illegal and I dont want to turn this thread into a moral debate. The matter is the technology is the sameas if we were cloning a human. but who better than to build a cloning facility than the cloners of the game. Its like we got forgotten about. BTW... If we have nothing to do with people cloning why do we have to know DNA sequences for taking out a base?? Just curious....

I agree that Bio Engineers have little to do with player cloning, however, I think we could have had some role to play as crafters. Perhaps we Bio Engineers would be required to craft a vital component Architects would need to make cloning facilities. I think this would be a great way to include us BE's and other neglected classes (DE's) in building player cities.
