Thread: BE is fun but...

WARNING: This is sort of a rant so don't read if you don't want to hear it.

Ok...I admit, I respec to BE because I had a whole lot of medical resources given to me from a friend who left the game. The thing is I'm finding myself liking BE (I'm just now starting to make pets. And even if it is broken, the ability to create creatures is a blast!). The only problem is now with the whole combat level thing, if I chose BE and a combat prof, I'm coming out to be around level 57. This basically means that I can't really PvP (since most pvpers seem to be level 80s)or do higher end content. I just wish that I could have been both a crafter and a combatant without having to have two accounts.

I would love to hear y'all's opinion. What kind of things do you do with your BE?

No, your health bar stays at your level. The damage given and received is based on the level 80 you have.

yar, you have the same amount of hit points (yes, I went there) but you take less damage in combat because you have a higher CL. You should also deal out more damage depending on the stats of your weapon.

The curb is all about getting people to group. What would be real cool is if the game provided NPC henchmen in the event you can't find players available or willing to accompany you on trips in the field. An NPC you'd have to hire andpay where, if you brought along a RL player friend, you'd not have to pay anything.

Or give my pet the ability to heal me.

If you group with alevel 80 combatant you take on the level 80 which allows you to participate in the high end content. It could be looked at as a form of forced grouping but it is still a means of enjoying game content you wouldn't be able to enjoy alone.

Hmm...that's a thought...but would my health bar still be at what ever it was when I'm lvl 57 or will it be the health for a lvl 80 toon?

I hear your rant. Fighting sith in the village with my level 57 master CM/master BE was enough for me. Enough damage mitigation to make only 3 trips to the cloners each session.

Well, I have the luxury of 2 accounts so I respecc'd my BE into a double elite level 80 profession and then I respec'd my droid engineer into a pure crafting BE.

I'm not saying it cannot be done as a level 57/grouped BE. I'm just saying that the aggravations of trying to be anything more than a pure crafter or pure fighter are too much for ME. And also, were too much for our armorsmith as well btw, who respecc'd out of master armorsmith to become a master BH/master smuggler leaving all crafting on his second toon.

I think that, if SOE wanted to make people happy, they'd allow you to have 2 toons per server (or 3 if you unlock jedi). That would basically allow most people to cut out the hybrid runaround and concentrate on what each toon does best and would be a great bonus for the game.

Yeah...I might just go full combat and make a new toon on another server to tryout BE. It'll just be harder starting fresh w/ no equipment/supplies.

I second the 2 toons per server idea (w/ 3 for jedis)! Think SOE will hear us?

Doubtful, as it's been asked for since the big bang happened in SWG.

Back on topic, I'm a CL58 (MBE/MCH/Novice Carbs/Scout 4-0-4-0) and am having a blast. I do, however, group for PvP, but preCU I probably did that 70% of the time anyway. Otherwise, my CL63 rancor tanks for me while I stand 40m away and shoot. Works great for PvE, but I'm sure it wouldn't for PvP unless the rancor had a nice KD or something like that. I might go SF with three pets out this weekend and see how that goes though.

First of all, damage dealing is not affected by level(IT SHOULD BE), damage taking is affected by level.

Second, they could fix the crafter/combatant/level issuse two ways:

1. Adjust levels so that you're 80 after 1 elite profession, or...

2. Make non-combat professions cost 0 skill points.

We can all do more to emit less.

Well, you couldn't make noncombat cost 0 SP... otherwise everyone would have every crafting position and there would be no need for markets. However, making them cost less, or allowing for one elite crafting position if you have two master combat profs, or even making BE count as a master combat prof (I know, I know, it's not one) would do the trick.

I'm fine, however, with the way things are. If you want to be into PvP and be a DL80 going solo, then MBE is probably not for you.

Actually I'd love for the non-crafting professions to cost 0 sp. Because I don't think you can actually be a very very very good crafter in more than one - max two crafting professions (i'm a mediocre crafter in one field only myself but working all the time to get better). Gathering resources and knowing what to do isthe hard part - not having the skill.

Actually, I'm not that hell (can I say that here? )bent on PvPing. I've only done it a few times but it seems fun (eventhough I died quickly... ). And yes, I do most things solo, not because I like to but because I'm finding it hard to find a group. There's no "looking for group" channel and I'm not the type toyell at starports.

Maybe this is SOE's trick to get us topay fortwo accounts?
