nope. thats THE only thing u have to do by hand. if you hadn't to to do it, you could afk grind ... this would be horrible.

if people have to grind to get to the top, they can at least sit hours and hours in front of the screen and click like a psycho ...

you've got to help yourself on this one... macroing is against the EULA

Whether that means "will get you banned" or "is officially unsupported" I don't know, but noone here is willing to risk the first.

You don't use in-game macros to grind ... there's extrenal tools you use that allow you to do it. In game macro's won't allow you to control the mouse and keyboard like the external tools do.

That's all I'm going to say.

And if you get busted using one, don't say we didn't warn you.

1) it *is* possible to do an automated purely-exp grind without any special programs (well maybe some joystick drivers)

2) using external macro programs for faster crafting will most likely get you banned if caught

Hmmmm...if your really need macros to craft, maybe you're in the wrong profession? Just a suggestion though.

On second thought, I'll be more helpful - here's some psuedocode for how I survived making all the traps and tents I needed as a newbie to master scouting. Its not exactly a crafting macro but still...

while (!beingAttackedByTuskens or !lostInMosEntha) {
success = grind(resources);

if (!success)
sipOfBeer++;

if (!resources)
killNunas();

if (sipOfBeer > 20) {
pause(3600);
sipOfBeer = 0;
}

}

I know, its not tight, but I'm on painkillers and grouchy.

Actually, I think that creating an in-gamemacro for grinding(I'm not even going to touch 3rd party stuff) is more work than it's worth. Since the crafting tools remember the last thing you made and whether or not you're practicing, once you're in the groove you basically have to start the tool, hit enter (selecting the item), insert the resources (which AFAIK cannot be macroed without a 3rd party), then hit enter three more times (complete schematic, view properties, set name).

Putting my crafting tools on F1-F5, and mapping my fourth/fifth mouse button (the small forward thumb button) to "enter" with the mouse driver properties, I can do about 6 items a minute using my left hand on the function keys, my right on the mouse and my right thumb on the mouse button to advance.My scroll wheel button is already mapped to "Double click" in windows, so that's 8 clicks for a 3 resource item.

The thumb button is mapped by default to "forward" in Windows (for web surfing), and while I don't use that function much I'd like to keep as much in-game as I can. Does anyone know whether there's an in-game keymap that would advance the crafting tool? "Chat Enter" doesn't do it, and the enter key isn't bound to anything else. Of course, I can't seem to get SWG to register that mouse button anyway, so it may be a moot point.

Sadly, as long as grinding is more or less required to advance and enjoy advanced crafting professions, there will always be people looking to reduce that tedium through macros.

Truthfully though, I can't think of any reason why an artisan would really need to grind. I got halfway through artisan without even trying, just by virtue of making things for myself and my friends, and selling some things on the bazaar. Granted, the last few skills to get to master took a week or two to get, but I certainly didn't have to sit and grind to get the experience to be able to enjoy just being an artisan.

Unlike my current profession.

I condone crafting macros for one reason in that they help stop me from getting RSI. You can find an excellent guide to macros at http://swg.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=135. There's a fair bit of moral argument connected to crafting macros, but I won't go into it here.

Hope that helps.
