I ran into something kindof strange last night, my first as a BE. I ran into a nest of sharnaffs, and at novice BE, I was able to sample the sharnaffs easily enough, at CL31 but not the sharnaff bulls CL38. I figured the cutoff was 35 or so at novice. So I got my DNA sampling I box on the sharnaffs, and when I came back I still could not sample the sharnaff bulls. Basically, I was very surprised that I could sample a sharnaff at novice, and surprised again that getting a new box wouldn't take me from CL31 to CL38. Are there some animals that simply don't have DNA?

No. All creatures have DNA, and anything CL 75 and under can be sampled, but success rates vary with CL of the creature and you might have gotten a sample simply by "bull-headed" persistance.. I sampled several quite high level creatures at novice, and failed most of the time, but occaisionally got a sample.

You're usually better off if you are working your way up to start with lower levels - a single high level sample may bring 300-400 exp but 20 tries to get one are much less productive than 20 successes on creatures that give you 50 exp per sample.

Faambas and Bolle Bols became my favorites on Naboo as I worked my way up, after I had sampling one, and since you can milk them as well as getting DNA at the same time, it is doubly profitable.

What level were they? if they were over level 75 you can't get a sample fromt hem anymore, it wil always fail, also (and i know it sounds silly) but check to see if your pack is full, if its full yet again you will always fail. It does seem to me though that i get a lot more fails than i used to since the CU, not sure if i have justbeen unlucky or if the CU has actually had an effect on the fail rate though.

Now, your saying that with all of the above, I can sneak up on an agro type mob and be able to DNA sample from it ?? And how high level should I expect this to work on ?

A few other questions now....

If I am with a few partners and they agro a mob that I want dna from and Im not in the group or involved with the combat, can I still DNA sample from that mob ? Or does the mob being in combat keep me from doing that regardless of my agro status ?

If I am grouped with a CL80, will mobs that are 70 and naturally agro still attack me ?

you can sneak up with maskscent... to a point. maskscent doesn't provide the sneakiness it did before the CL changes.

you can't sample DNA from a target that is in combat, nor while you are engaged in combat with any mob.

if you are grouped with a CL80, you will take less damage per hit. you will still be 'noticed' by mobs based on YOUR toon's CL.

i would recomend seeing one of you local rangers and getting a camo kit for the planet you plan on working on instead of masked scent and maybe do like i do and get some friends to provide back up if they agro you

you can sample up to lvl 75 creatures

and you can not get dna from any creature that is in combat wether it is another player or an enviromental advisary if it is attacking you must wait till it is done fighting and if it is stil standing at the end you can try to sample
