I read on the TC Guide to the Village that BE crafting exp does not convert into FS crafting
(altho, smuggler's spicing is, go figure). I am personally not "glowing" and cant get to the
village. I was wondering if any of you BEs out there were and discovered that this is still
true In Live as it was in Testing?
Thanks

hmmm.... this is like the 3rd or 4th time is has been asked this week, I think it qualifies for a new addition to the FAFAQ.
Yes both BE crafting and DNA sampling convert to force sensitive XP but the quests to unlock the crafting trees require novice artisan.

Um..
So we have to drop something and take Novice Artisan (15pts) so we can qualify as 'crafters'?
That doesn't seem reasonable to me.

I don't have Novice Artisan and I just crafted one of the items for the quest.

hmmm, maybe they actually listened to me /shrug, that or its broken.
All I know is that the patch notes said they were changing the quest to require novice artisan.
You didnt need any artisan skills to craft the stuff, just to get the quest.

Checked the patch notes again - its only the phase 2 and phase 3 quests that have novice artisan required.

Update from your Force feline.
Completed the crafting quest. It was fun; more fun than a lot of stuff in this game. After creating the items you have some puzzles to solve which are quite interesting.
I then talked to the NPC to convert my XP. Converted all my BE XP (exactly 160k; dunno if this is capped) and some old medic and general crafting XP that I had lying around. At 4:1 conversion ratio I didn't have enough to learn Crafting Mastery Novice. I also converted all my Fencer and Combat XP (both capped) and that was enough to qualify for Enhanced Reflexes Novice.
Since I took the crafting quest I am now stuck not being able to train the branch I unlocked while having enough points to train a branch which is still locked...
Time to grind I suppose :-)

Awesome, what did your BE xp convert at? 4:1? I was thiniking about dropping MBE as much as I don't want to just to accommodate the FS trials.

XP converted at 4:1. DNA sampling also converted at 4:1 into another tree. Enhanced reflexes possibly; I don't recall now. In any event I was able to get three novice skills in total.
After crafting mastery novice you'll need 175k XP for a level 1 box. That's 700k BE XP or almost 2400 INNs, though perhaps some other tissue gives better XP.
My personal opinion is that it's just not worth the effort.

Thank you for your reply. I might just keep the dna sampling for the 4:1 conversion--its fun to bring down a big, herbivore mammoth with a **edit**.
I agree the 2400 INNs are too expensive and time consuming it be worth the effort.

160k is the Max for DNA Sampling... Just converted all mine over into FS Senses to unlock it (Along with my Scouting Max).
Now I'm going through the painfull task of trying to figure what I can/will dump to get the16 Skill Points needed to fill one of the FS trees (I'm starting with Senses).
Current Template...
Marksman 0400
Medic0004 (this cuts most of the Medic FS Quests)
Scout 4040
Master BE
CH 4414
Pistoleer 3040
This leaves me with 1 Skill Point left-over.
Now, if I understand this correctly. 24 FS Skills are needed to continue on (I'm mainly doing this only to open an additional slot. So, my BE can be Crafter only. 2nd Slot for Combat). Which means I need to find 24 Skill Points. This also means I would need to fill 1 1/2 of a complete FS Tree. The only choice I have is to slowly unload my Pistoleer Skills as Skill Points are needed. But, will I still be able to complete the Quests as I get weaker and weaker in Combat ?
My FS plans are as follows (Feedback would be MOST appreciated). Somehow this is what I would like to do. But, the lack of real Medic skills and any Artisan Skills might keep me from it.
Senses - Healing & Persuasion (That's 8 down, 16 to go)
Reflexes - Survival (4 down, 12 to go)
Crafting - Experimentation, Assembly, Technique
There's the 24 FS Skills...
(Might trade off Experiment for Luck in the Senses line. Since I always come out with unused Experiement points anyway)
Since with CH I have a max CL of 50. I've been having to design my own pets/tanks to help me along with this. Need to spread the Resists out since you are facing NPC's with a mix of Melee and Ranged attacks. Plus, Light Armor 40-50 Resists across the board.

The above posts have a mix of correct info. I have unlocked Combat Prowess, Relexes and Crafting. I only got 2 unlocks from 10 professions. Prowess and Reflexes only convert from weapons and combat XP. BE crafting does comvert at 4:1 for crafting but i'm still stuck with capped out DNA sampling, Scout, Slicing & Creature Handling XP so these much convert to Senses XP.
I feel again the crafters got screwed over because with combat you are stuck with only 2 trees to work in.
But my main gripe that the Survival tree that gives all the scout type bonus is in reflex and you can't convert and Scout, Ranger or BE type XP to reflex XP. Please Nancy see if this is fixable.
My plan to remain as a force sensitive BE was to take Melee Def, accuracy and speed plus Survival and Craft Experiment and assambly trees. This would allow me to still protect myself when Sampling actually harvest a bit of my own meat and get some crafting bonuses but now to try and actually make use of my accumulated XP i will have to take a senses quest as well which means waiting an extra phase at least. ( This is not as big for me as others as I don't think I'll complete 4 Boxes per phase shift of the village).
I truly wish the village had been in the game from the start as its a far improved system. Yes still a lot of grinding but you can build your Chacacter and remain in your desired profession. It actually lets you do something with your XP after you hit Master.
