Thread: Oh Great! They Gave Us a Ring but...
it amazes me that not one iota of attention could be given to a crafting class quest in this new expansion.
a few quests within the mining facility alone could have been scripted. they didn't even have to be class specific.
i can only guess that this is a broken-down method of balancing the economy.
The expansion may be great for combat players...but they really haven't given more than 5mins of thought to the crafters.
I hate being locked out of content by this level thing too Cin

Some things you can do, soem you cant, some you need help with, some you dont, and some things you just have to BUY of others.
Apparently you didn't read my post correctly. I was on Mustafar with my guild. I'm pretty sure that that constitutes being in a group and not soloing but what do I know, I'm only a girl. Being the lowest member of said group (at least I hope it was a group as it appeared to be one to me) the Level 80s did not offer me much protection (LOL is that a myth put out by the devs)as everything aggro'd and attackedme and consequently we lost every skiff we had on us. We ended up traveling by fleas then and at least I could heal (although dang mount bug) my flea.
I think it is funny that from the dancer prop to the BE ring, we the lower orders need to be dependent upon the high and mighty combat wombats but they cannot be inconvenienced by being dependent upon the lower orders (stopping for a few minutes to get BF healed) as it inhibits their game play. Consequently, they dealt the deathblow to the ent profession. If we are too needy of their time, I'm sure the devs can figure out a way to kill us off too. Actually, come to think of it, I believe they have already begun that process.
Interdependency should be a two-way street but not in SWG, here it's a one-way street heading towards CL80.

The issue you had is that when you attack something in a group, you are offensively the same lvl as the highest group member...but this doesnt count for aggro. All those lvl 50ish mobs that are greyed out for lvl 80s will aggro you...but no one else.
In EQ2, when you join a group, you automatically grey out mobs that under the GROUP level...I think its a SWG bug that they are calling a 'feature'

it's mostly designed (if I remember right) so that a single CL80 toon can't group with seven CL1's and 'remotely buff' them...

I was attacked while riding in a skiff at no time did I fire upon any critter, some spawned on top of us and instantly aggro'd me. The skiff was attacked and destroyed before we could get out. Even while grouped with the Level 80 members of my guild red cons still aggro me.

they could make harvester runs in complete safety.
they could travel through the top of the myydril caverns without aggro... thus bypassing 'content'.
and more. basically, they'd be 'remotely buffed', since the CL system is more of a 'buff' than doctors and entertainers could EVER have applied. as it stands, a CLlow toon in a skiff on mustafar is NOT going to arrive with the rest of the group... they'll meet you at Mensix when you get back (check the cloner).
I disagree with the CL system, I disagree with the aggro rules... but the rules are there.

What difference would it make if you got the same xp dependant upon level difference... a lvl 5 vs a lvl 5 = 1000 xp, and a lvl 80 vs lvl80 = 1000 xp.
Therefore a lvl 1 in a level 80 group vs a lvl 80 will only gain 1000 xp...and is severely disadvantaged by their specials, certifications and health.
There is no benefit to grouping with someone higher level, other than to grey out lesser mobs that are inconsequential for the group. In fact its still not good as you cannot solo a lvl 80 at a lesser level even if the dmg ratio is the same...you just dont have the health, specials or certifications.
I was reading all of the BE threads trying to get my 'new post' meter for the BE forum to 0 and ran across this. Don't ask me why, but it gave me some satisfaction during the great doctor debates of the CU-announcement timeframe to see that I had read everything on the forum.
As cynical as it is that I believe that they published an expansion with full knowledge that they were taking money from people who would likely quit days later, I find it equally pathetic that they would bother to put in an item for a profession that they had every intention of eliminating.
Sometimes, you just have to laugh at their project management...
