Thread: clvl 35 pets
First tip - Avoid any of the merek harvester variations of pets, they stink imo. They always have a vul to energy.
3 good level 35 formulas:
1) AG, AG, AG, G, AG where AG = Ancient Graul and G = Graul. Have to be careful with the samples you use, if the fortitude is 324 or less you won't get light armor. After the combine put points into the fortitude until light armor appears and nothing else. This will make a level 35 pet in a single combine with decent kinetic, energy and a few good secondary resists.
2) AG, AG, AG, AG, AG where AG = Ancient Graul. This is a 2 generation process. Just combine the 5 dnas and put points into fortitude until light armor shows up. Then make a low resource creature like a bearded jax. Then sample the jax until you get 5 dna samples and combine those and put points into fortitude until light armor appears. The final combine is usually 35 - 33.
3) BMB, BMB, BMB, BMB, BMB where BMB = Bark Might Burrrower. Follow the same process as recipie #2, this will produce a great all around pet with outstanding secondary resistances.
For a big bad mean pet I'd just get 5 BMBQ (Bark Mite Burrower Queen) dna samples and max out all the stats. The end result is a level 65ish pet with awesome kinetic, energy and secondary resists (heat, electricity and acid).
Oh yeah, for the bark might burrower level 35 pet it might take 3 generations to finally get it down to 35. Hard to tell, its kind of random sometimes.
My CL35s are turning out around 9k-10k HAM, No Armor, 25%-30% accross the board for resists (No Vul), 300-310 Damage, 2.1 speed, .28 ToHit, Dizzy/Knockdown/Ranged Poison(or Blind/Knockdown/Ranged Poison).
The latest formula that I've been working on is:
Bark mite burrower - merek harvester - slinking voritor hunter - lesser plains bol - slinking voritor hunter
If you experiment in physique and psych only you end up with a lightly armored, close to 60% (58%?) kinetic, 5% energy, high ham, and high damage (close to 350 as I recall) critter with cripple/dizzy specials (that I like) that unfortunately works out to be CL 37. I need to find a way to drop 2 CL's off that, preferably in 1st generation
I need to find an appropriate substitute for SVH in the mental slot, as I think it will have plenty of fortitude to get light armor even with an unarmored critter in mental.
With all due respect to Pahbi, I don't think your BE friend should ignore the Merek Harvester recipes. The resultant pets have 10KHAM and 60% kinetic resists. You can't do better than this at CL 35 for PVE. Now Pahbi is correct if you are looking for an all around pet that can handle both creatures and NPCs and I would defer to his excellent results there. The Merek recipesall
have completeenergy vulnerabilities.
For the BE's:
Merek Harvester/Merek Harvester/Delierous Merek Avenger/Bark Mite Borrower andPiket Longhorn: experiment physique only until fortitude is >500.
This will give you a 10/9/8 K HAM cl35 AR1 60% kinetic resists with stun/intimidate and ranged attack.

All three recipies I posted will produce a level 35 pet with 60% kinetic (except the first one, its 59%), light armor, decent ham and 40-50% energy resist.
Recipie # 3 will eventually produce a level 35 pet with 60% kinetic, 40% energy, 80% heat, 80% acid, 80% electricity, light armor and decent ham.
Why settle for some merek harvester recipie with either total or near total vulnarability to energy and other vital resists when there is so much better out there?
I'm sorry, but IMO, merek harvester formulas are greasy kid stuff, not worthy of a master BE.
I've been a MCH since about the 4th week of release (I still am). I only sell pets I would use myself (unless its some special request), and I've never seen a merek harvester formula I would use myself.
Pahbi,
I'd really like to see the complete stats on these creatures that you are pushing so hard and compare them to the ones you are dissing so much.I'm thinking that you are more than likely sacrificing offensive capabilities and HAM big-time for that extra energy resist. Now, whether that tradeoff is worthwhile or not would depend a lot on how the user uses the pet. But even in a situation where you are taking big-time enemy fire on the pet I question whether your recipe is superior. You feature Ancient Graul heavily in your formulas, yet this creature has more vulnerabilities then merek harvester does so when battling anything that does almost anything *but* energy damage, such a creature I would expect to fair much worse.
I think it all boils down to what you're going to be doing with the pet. I have made a few MH recipes for customers because they requested high damage and high kin I doubt your recipes will get you the 12k/8k/8k AR1 and 60 kin with strong poison and dizzy and350-450 damage.
I have to say being an MCH myself I don't prefer them as I use the same pets for just about everything but if you want to have specialized pets as these are for a certian task normally the intimadate/dizzy and strong poison/dizzy combo for hunting kimo's then I don't see how you're going to do better with a general pet.
