A while back I did the BE profession during my jedi grind. I found your guide to be very useful. Here is a trick I learned that would be a great addition to your guide in regards to grinding DNA Sampling.

The problem with the DNA sampling macro that you have there is that /ui cycle target command only works on targets that are within your viewing radius. So you have to keep a constant eye on which direction your character is facing so that you are always facing a creature for you to sample dna from.

I was looking for a solution to this problem when I remembered an old key combination that spins the camera view around. Ctrl + Shift + S. This will cause the camera view to rotate around your character 360 degrees constantly. It will never stop rotating unless you move the mouse. What I did was turn on the macro, turn on the spin, and turn my mouse upside down so it couldnt move (its optical, they do funny stuff sometimes) while I was away. It worked like a charm.

With this system, the only time I had to come back to my pc was when I needed to empty the dna samples from my inventory.

Anyways, I thought that may be a useful addition to your FAQ for future BE grinders.

Since macro recursion will soon be a thing of the past, hopefully so will the culture of afk play.
I never liked the afk sample macro in the first place, I despise afk play and always have, I only included it in the guide because someone had taken the time to write it and its not my job to be judge and jury on how other people play the game.
I have no intention of modifying the guide to make afk sampling even easier and when recursion goes away i will be rewriting that section of the guide anyway.

I personally did all my sampling on Lok with Gurk missions. Got through all of sampling in about 8 hours. Each gurk gives 390-500 xp, you can usually sample 2-5 times from each, and there's at least 15 of them in a lair (over 20 if you get a real high lair). They rarely aggro if you fail as well.

just thought I'd share

Hey, different strokes for different folks.

I dont always support afk macroing either. But in some cases I feel its ok. Like this one, because there is nothing that is fun nor beneficial about the OVERLY LONG AND TEDIOUS dna sampling grind. Its kind of ridiculous how long it takes to do this line in comparison to some of the stuff in the rest of the game. I also dont believe that afk macro'ing this particular task in game brings any unneeded negative side effects to the game unlike some other afk macro activities which are the sole premise for recurring macros being changed.

This could help out some people in your small community here, even if for just a short period of time. Thats the bottom line. Include it if you like, or dont. I just figured that as correspondent you would feel a certain responsibility to provide for those who do things and believe differently than you do.

I got all my DNA sampling from everywhere. I was busy trying to make pets to sell. The more I made, the more I sold, of ALL levels thatI was capable of making. I experimented a lot with combinations. I made pets for my guildies. Before I was even ready for it, I was at DNA IV and had it complete. By that time, my skills were 1/0/4/1. Its kinda unbalanced in that respect. The DNA sampling line should take longer to complete.

Wahoo Shaft!

I have been roaming the Galaxy to find fricken' parts to my blue rug and remebered that Outside the cantina in Moneia on Naboo (from when I was doing the Krayt skull missions) there was an infinate spawn of NCP's so I thought I would stop there to make some friends (faction points) and get some loot (mostly CDF weapons but ever 50 or so is something cool) and there were these to AFK nimrods akf killing and looting these things...

I hate AFK things, mostly cause I can never get it to work... lol just kidding only tried once for an alternate for dancing XP I had my mouse wrapped around an osolating fan so it would keep moving... lol.

I am such a moron.

BUT I WILL HAVE A BLUE FRIGGEN' RUG or DIE TRYING!!

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

no i'm not post-stalking, you're just the only reason i'm still here on the boards

ps. dna sampling is NOT hard........ did you actually grind that crafting or get some 3rd party macro./....... even WITH macros it's hellish, and far worse than dna was

That's what I was thinking I had 6 tools a tooling and I hated that crap it took for-ever (hyphentated for effect not casue I am a moron or a bjork) Dna sampling was fun and I made alot of cash doing it too.

i ran piket missions..... 300 xp per piket, 9 per lair, 9k per mission

and i did most of my sampling before anyone told me about muon

at first i was against the total removal of recursive macros but it's apparently taught many of us just to be more lazy than anything else

How can they stop them without removing all macros? I mean even a fan using idiot can figure out that you just have the macro point to a differetn UI spot and have that spot point to the first, so how can they stop without removing all?

lol

well i'm not sure what the dev plan is......... my first responce was to try and circumvent the possible exploits in the macro system

an idea i had for entertainers was to make the entertainer manually target and set to heal a certain person, otherwise no healing, no xp...... removes the need for afk entertainment and for rude players to watch a buffbot for free instead of an actual entertainer and tip..... oh the shock! pay for a service!!

Hmm... I just got most of my macros set up, so I hope they don't smash them all, I am not a fan (no pun intended) of the recursive ones so that's fine by me, just hope all is not lost. I have forgoten how to tie my shoes, if they take my macro away I may step on something sharp.

I agree with both of you.

I live on Lok. Gurk missions pay 9k and if you are lucky, the Sampling Needle of Death can kill most of them for you. Plus, the DNA ain't too bad.

A mentality of grinding is what ruins the game for people...I'm absolutely convinced of that. If people would just relax and enjoying the activities of their class, the XP and boxes would come naturally, you would learn the actual "real world" skills you need to leverage your class skills and people might actually have more fun. Imagine that...
