Thread: Can you be a Bio-Engineer but not make pets?

Hello, way back when about a mounth after launch I started making my char a BE, i only got done with the clone line then i droped it but it has still seemed to be the most intresting prof in the game and one of a few crafting profs I could actuly do. My question is, that because pets are pretty much useless now in SWG, could a BE make only items for tailors and chefs and not actuly make pets? I guess the question actuly anwsers its self i mean of corse you could but has anyone out there tried this and could tell me if works well or not?

lol, of course you can although getting Master is strongly advised (as opposed to 0404). Many BEs see tissues/additives as their 'bread and butter' and make pets when they are bored or want to have a bit of fun. Its great seeing a gleam of a young noob's face when you give em a pet

I know pets haven't been my money maker in some time but they are what is fun to make. So yes if you didn't want to make them while you are missing out on the best part of the profession IMO you can easily make a living doing it.

Well making pets can make you money too, if you really put a lot of time into it. Its not on par with tissues for profitability, but I made my first million solely on pets. You dont have to deal withmeat hunters, factories, or grubby chefs either, just ineducated CHs who want 100% kinetic rasps =)

As a "dual major" CH/BE, I have to take exception with the statement that pets are pretty much useless. They are no longer the uber things from launch, but playing the CH is certainly fun and viable.
In any case, if you want master, you do need to do the DNA sampling line. However, you don't actually need to ever make a pet if you don't want.

...seems odd that you would pick BE for its crafting uniqueness, only to avoid what makes BE so unique...

I hate crafting tissues... Unless a truly fantastic spawn of meat arises I will never again craft tissues.
But pets... I don't even need to sell pets. I get a kick out of combining DNA and resampling.
Granted, I'm still a noob at doing it, compared to the long time BE:s in here. But damn if I don't find it the most enjoyable aspect of the game.

Pets are really good for spreading your name around as a good BE. But once you have your tissues and supplements business rolling, you can safely drop them.

Iguess I didn't really ask the question right. of corse I want to make pets! But what I ment to the ask the first time is of you can make money on tissues alone but the queston has already been anwsered by other people.

If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
If you were to become a Master Weaponsmith would you have to make CDEF Pistols?
The answer is yes, if you don't make 3 pets a week you loose your MBE title.

No I am deaf, people tell me they make a sound, I will never be sure.
